Brighton Rocks
Thugs in the UK, our Olympians, Christopher's Clanger and Audrey's Rotten Reckons.
Oh Rock of Ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still
Oh Lady Moon, shine down a little people magic if you will
Brighton Rocks
In the recent UK election it was evident from the number of votes the populist Reform party received that Labour were inheriting a nation with a gurgling underbelly of discontent toward the other. That frustrations in austerity Britain were conveniently directed towards people they were calling “illegals”. Mirroring the dehumanisation of Latin Americans, with that same word, by similarly disaffected people in the US.
This week the UK has witnessed ongoing scenes of far right violence, fuelled by disinformation, racial hatred, and I imagine no small amount of lager in many cases. Good folks have no doubt looked aghast at the shameful events taking place, and it has been gratifying to see the counter protests swell in opposition to these would-be fascists.
The authorities are quite rightly taking a very hardline, already sending some of the worst offenders to prison. Personally I reckon that after the last UK government went to such lengths preparing to ship people off to Rwanda that the new government ought to do the same. Not with asylum seekers, but these mindless scum.
“Sorry buddy, you’ve failed the character test, you’re not British any more here’s a one-way, non-optional, ticket to Rwanda.” Be worth it just to see the look on their faces.
“We are many. You are few. We are Brighton Who are you?”
Across the streets of Britain thousands have marched, chanting “Nazi Scum, Off Our Streets”. Nowhere more so than in Brighton, where the far right thugs were vastly outnumbered.
The counter protesters in this photo are all the people outside the semi circle of police, the mob are on the inside. Brighton indeed rocks - to the chant of “We are many. You are few. We are Brighton Who are you?”
