....."Besides farmers have it hard enough right now cleaning up after all these storms without having to worry about this climate change stuff." Priceless.

Not much question that the Johnathan Pie / Prof Haig clip would have been a far more appropriate lead item on the news than New All Black Coach.

You captured the TV1 news presentation very well. Yeah main news, new break dancing AB,s coach oh and then some climate change stuff. Opinions no facts. Great reporting again TV1 no doubt you will give yourself an award later this year.

10 + more facts in the Prof Haig/Johnathon Pie skit than on TV!.

New All Black coach makes headline news. Climate crisis comes afterwards. That figures with ONE news.

sometimes it is overwhelmingly sad that the sort of conversation you describe here has been around for so long now that the fact that climate change is getting a stupidly small mention on the national news can only be seen as evidence of failure rather than finally starting to get the message across.

No difference has been made.

and apparently won't be made until all of the corporate greedies, banker owners of everything, and fossil fuel addicts, withdraw to their bunkers and we start again in the wastland they leave behind for us. I don't believe that the labour party can make much difference in the face of global power dynamics. despite their best efforts.

i suspect that the greatest change will come from the poorest countries as they are on the front line of extinction by climate. it is a good time to keep an eye on global happenings.

or maybe the UN will make a difference, their latest report is starting to sound louder. but they are still tied up by experts pushing dodgy technologies and other solutions that the corporate players can direct. and other distractions.

but then again, maybe chippie can figure out how to get the message across that we all have to get on with it. but now i am starting to get a bit hopeful again.

i will stick with sad for a bit longer. hopefully tomorrow will be another day.

I changed channels at 6pm to find the same fetish with the ABs. Sports news fine but surely it isn't the news!

Breaking news. All Black Coach break dancing.

More worrying was the lady on Breakfast TV who said electricity prices in NZ are geared to coal which costs so much more than hydro of which we have a surplus. Ten percent of all hydro is still locked into the Ozzie Comalco Aluminium Smelter which in turn has created a non bio-degradable toxic waste-dump in Southland. Underlying it all is the fact that coal is a fossil fuel and the dirtiest greenhouse gas producer of them all. Are the Greens making enough noise. James Shaw for me is boring and I suspect keen to stay on his Ministerial pay grade. If he was a UK footy-coach he'd have gone last Christmas

Two mature women sitting behind a solid wooden table on the main street of Westport giving out STOP THREE WATERS post cards were having passionate loud conversations with passers-by about how "our poor farmers are being vilified - VILIFIED!" A smallish crowd of believers were gathered around them, agreeing and encouraging them, but the majority of people were eye-rolling and walking on, which I found quite encouraging. I'm hoping that many of the anti-everythings are starting to shift, or at least quieten down, on many of the controversial topics.
