You make people evil to punish the past
stuck inside a sequel with a rotating cast
The following photos haven’t been generated with AI, or modified in any way. They are flesh and blood, human beings.
On the left is Galatea Young, a young mum, and her daughter Fiadh who has Angelman syndrome. This means “she has seizures, she has really big issues with sleep, she can't walk, and she can't talk.”
The women on the right is Louise Upston, her expression, her face, a portal enabling us to stare directly into soul of conservatism.
Some people refer to a kinder version of centre right politics, of a caring conservatism. I don’t think those people have met Louise. Because if they did she’d probably have said to them “you thought Paula was bad? Well hold my beer…”
In this article from Newshub it explains that Galatea “used her allowance from the Ministry of Disabled People to pay for carers and nights off for herself, because Fiadh has trouble sleeping.”
Are you happy for your tax dollars to be spent on that?
I know I sure as hell am.
Are you kidding? Look at that little girl and how much her mum loves her. Think about how hard Galatea’s life must be as a single mum. Are we as a society really willing to prioritise billions in tax breaks for property investors over giving someone like this some respite? It makes me feel physically ill.
“I've given my life already to my daughter and it's just restricted my life a whole lot more,” Galatea told Newshub, on the changes in funding. She had a message for the new Minster, “listen, come spend time with us, and be part of our community, before you make your decisions.”
So what do u want?
Who are you gonna be?
What makes you happy?
As you’re probably aware the Ministry of Disabled People reduced what it would fund last month in order to save money. It was handled so badly that Christopher Luxon went full on The Apprentice and told Minister Penny Simmonds “you’re fired”.
This enabled him to distance himself from the cruelty of the funding cuts. Despite the fact that he and Willis must have been the ones who ultimately demanded them.
