It's hard to make believe everyday
Things are not always the way they should be
Words come easy if you try
Hidin' in the shadow of your eyes
And I tell myself it's just a blue day
And it's hard to see it any other way
And I tell myself it's just a blue day
Blue…
As a funky dank cheese. What else?
Perhaps a National Party convention, with just a few fan heaters against the winter cold, that’s pretty damn blue. Or like the Mediterranean, against the landscapes of the ancient world.
Still, is there anything more blue than the NZ Herald? Long time ally of the centre right, and now enjoying a dalliance with what’s beyond, further along the spectrum. In the territory of hateful old men, and a few women, dropping poisonous pamphlets, uninvited, in their neighbour’s letter boxes.
Much easier to spread that garbage if you put it in a National newspaper, a National Party newspaper - don’t you think?
Yes, yes, they have Simon Wilson and he’s great, but do we always have to prefix our assessment with mention of the outlier? Like the compulsory mention of Israeli hostages, as if that some how justifies the rest of the horror?
Feeling a bit feisty there Nick? Well, yes thanks for asking. Seriously though, did you see the garbage they’re wrapping that blue spew in now? It’s pretty rank.
Lots of folks have messaged me about the Herald’s cover yesterday. One not fit for burying offal, much less containing fush and chups. Yuck.
Save our Shores is an alias of the right wing, anti Māori group, Hobson’s Pledge. Think such luminaries as Don Brash and Casey Costello - would you care for a bucket?
In addition to their campaign to remove Māori Wards, ensuring Māori don’t get a seat at the white man’s table, Hobson’s Pledge are running four main campaigns at present (clockwise from the top left in the following image):
Have you lost your job because you refused to be quiet about your racism?
We’ve taken 99% of the land, now we want the other 1%
We feel icky if anyone says the ‘A’ word, IT’S NEW ZEALAND!!!
No more grievances, times up, get over it already.
