When quoting Douglas, Richardson, and Heather Duplicity Allen it becomes clear as the nose on our faces that the RW gang still believe that their austerity wreaked by Douglas in the 80’was the best thing since sliced bread. Nicky no boats has been an unmitigated disaster from the outset. Wellington has been plunged into recession with all the job losses and associated decline in spending capital. My own region of Nelson/Tasman has seen our hospital rebuild cancelled and three major employers; The Eves Vally Sawmill, Sealords, and now Griffins either close or relocate out of the region. A wander down any high street and the effects on small businesses are clear for all to see. This government had no ideas when it was in opposition, save for criticising Grant Robertson, and has lacked any real idea how to manage the economy since being in power. The Tik Toc man comes across as a total fool (which of course he is!). I simply cannot imagine this crowd being afforded a second term……but…..watch this space
Heard an interview on nat radio, bout midday, of Douglas, who wants her to resign. He wants to go further in contraction in the welfare state, for more money for the "sorted". Bloody hell, I'm sure we should all kowtow to a bankrupt pig farmer.
He was instrumental in wrecking our economy in the 1980’s, with the help of Ruth Richardson. The Business Roundtable we’re pulling the strings just as the TPU (the same heartless bunch of neoliberal elites under a different name), are doing now. They are also the guiding force behind ACT. The whole heartless, greedy, and immoral lot of them disgust me.
True Mike. We lefties, major problem is that we've got a generation and a half of voters who've never known anything but Rogernomics or ruthenasia. That includes a fair proportion of lefties MPs So seeing the alternatives is beyond them. We've got a hard uphill climb.
The main reasons they got in was (1) through proportional representation party protest votes and (2) dipshit anti-vaxxer misogynist f**kwits that hated Jacinda and her helter-skelter full acceptance of 'wokeness'....I said to anyone who was listening at the time that I was worried, suggesting that things like so very abruptly Maori-fying the names of majorly important government services was probably "way too fast too soon" for too many old knee-jerk Labour-voting Kiwis who had already had to survive the trauma of the Covid pandemic...people are just people, eh. Keeping ideological batshit crazies like Seymour and Douglas ('Taxpayers Union!!!!) from gaining any more power is more important than any other political motivation, because they will sell our old-age pensions and national health protections (paid for by a lifetime of taxes) down the river, and this little insular country of Aotearoa will become owned "lock stock and barrel", by American West-Coast-based techno-oligarchs, looking for their South-Sea Island-Winter-Getaway/Retreats.
Blind Freddie could see that Nicky No Votes was always someone totally out of her depth. She has continually sneered and lectured us in tones that barely contain her condescending privilege. She never for a moment had a shred of ability, credibility, integrity, or humility.
These mo-fos. I HAVE the vocabulary AND the understanding of economics for it. But I am so spitting angry that I have to endure this level of duplicity in NZ as well as in the U.S. now that it has just got me over the edge. Bastards. Lying, incompetent bastards.
Absolutely spot on Nick and particularly the last para re Roger Douglas and the TPU. That Duplicity is thick enough to support their mantra says it all really. We really are in a bad situation thanks to COC incompetence and a failed ideology.
I've been enjoying seeing this country through the eyes of my brother who's recently returned after 30 years overseas. He observed there seem to be more conspicuously rich people than he remembered - big houses, big cars towing boats even mid-week. We went to a nice restaurant for our mother's 91st birthday and there was a line out the door even on a Tuesday night. Presumably these are the people who think the economy is going in the "right" direction, a small but influential minority. Everybody else not so impressed.
I see France is having a nation wide strike their country sounds like it's being run similar to ours in that the rich are getting richer & working people are getting screwed too many RW governments in power round the world .
Luxon has a plan for lifting wages. lol. What a Crack up…is that because the people left holding the dirt after all the job losses are now doing two to three people’s jobs for the same money they earned 2 years ago before inflation skyrocketed? Might get an extra coffee.
Doubling down, and refusing to change their actions and yet expecting a different result.
In fact, wanting to go faster, which would cause a crash. Utter madness. Act and civil unrest??
So, interest rates even lower? Spending more, but getting less return? Less stability, less start ups, less jobs less businesses overall, but "Macavity Luxon" says Growth growth!!" Growth in homelessness unemployment and cost of living expenses. Willis and the RBNZ on the rack, and then the chopping block? "
"Blame them not me!" says Teflon Macavity Luxon, "Outwardly respectable, and not there."
Unfortunately there’s no way Luxo will sack Nicola. I remember (only too gut wrenchingly well) when they came bouncing out to front the people of AotearoaNZ, smugly declaring “we are the reset!!!” ( I apologise for any bad memories that quote brings to anyone)To admit that Nicola deserves, quite rightly, to be marched out the chamber door never to return, he would tacitly expose his own failures, of which there are many but apparently none of which are his responsibility. Also, on the blue side of the house there’s nobody worthy of the task of leading our country into the future, not even Simeon, who will grasp any straw he can to enhance his own chances.
As for HDPA, I’ve heard the phrase from many women who have recently given birth say “the brain went out with the placenta”, in jest. I think HDPA does add some credibility to this, in her case anyway. Having the noxious Barry whispering sour nothings in her ears wouldn’t help much either.
A great song, perfect for Nicola. She sure as hell doesn’t sell any sanctuary!
🤷 Might be right about the current sacking status, BUT if "he goes and she goes" could be a way for a desperate Nat caucus to re-position themselves in their own minds ⁉️
Hmmm, not sure about that Cindy. They’ve been told how to think by Luxo for the last two years. I think they’ve probably lost the capability to do it on their own. Anyway, even if they could would you trust any of them?
She's been having a cry to Luxon. I saw him on the news earlier opening a postbox somewhere being asked by media about Nicky as Finance Minister being the right person. He said ABSOLUTELY about five times - then went on to claim we are growing and rabbit as fast as he could all their failed policies again. But what else can you expect from this foolish PM? BTW Happy Suffrage Day!
I saw that as well Darien. Remarkably my TV came through it unscathed. I’m rather hoping his high praise of Nicola was the usual one spoken by many pollies just before they stab the subject in the back and shove them out the door. These Reset Twins are the most pathetic, irritating, self serving, sickening creatures we’ve ever witnessed in the history of our country. There is nothing at all to like about them and the sooner they ride off into the sunset the brighter our future will be.
Thank you for sharing what the likes of that strange woman DPA says - I do like to know what is being said by the unhinged reckoners but my mental health can't stand direct engagement 😱 I know SOME people are anxious for Labour et al to put their policies out there & show what they are offering as an alternative, but a) the election is so far away there is no point because if the economy keeps crashing they will have to adjust or be accused of walking-back and b) never interrupt your opposition while they are crashing and burning and flailing and bickering 👀🤷 (and yes, Greens have put policy out BUT they won't be the major party for at least the next election, so no danger of having to put it fully into place... )
The arrogance of them saying 'All they've had to cope with", a terror attack, no, a volcanic erruption, no, a pandemic, no, M.Bovis infection*, no... F them
* Forgot Labour had to deal with that until Jacinda mentioned in her book. Add world first eradication to the achievement list
Let’s get it straight - despite the Covid 19 pandemic we had a functioning economy under Labour!
And before Covid we had x2 years of surpluses in Labour’s first term.
And we had well funded public services and investment in infrastructure development!
Contrast that to the x3 term Key National Govt that only had one surplus - artificially derived be cutting public services and that surplus was in the last year of a nine year Govt.
Both the OECD and the international credit rating agencies commended Labour for its competent financial management and the management of the economy during and post the pandemic!
Inflation was generated mainly by things - the tradables external of NZ and was in the average zone relative to other countries in the OECD! Not Govt spending as Luxon and Willis would falsely claim
Adrian Orr Governor of the Reserve Bank in 2023, stated publicly that, “Govt spending was small beer in its contribution to inflation.”
Luxon / Willis / National leading up to the 2023 election falsely blamed Labour for the cause of inflation via Govt spending and that Labour had wrecked the economy. Both were false positions and a lie!
But the lies were promoted deliberately to get the Govt elected but more importantly to bring in their agenda of austerity knowing they would have public support to cut the size of Govt and cut Govt spending.
They have continued to maintain the lies in Govt to down size Govt and to cut spending. They gave also falsely claimed credit for inflation coming down which had nothing to do with the Govt but everything to do with the Reserve Bank
What the Govt has been doing is implementing the Extreme Right Atlas Network agenda:
- Less Govt
- Less public services
- Less publicly funded infrastructure
- Less tax paid
- More privatisation
And
- Enhancement of those that have wealth and property!
What Luxon / Willis did not realise is the Govt in NZ has a key role of managing the economy and a substantive role in funding the economy!
In carrying out the Atlas agenda of austerity the Govt has failed spectacularly and has failed the people of Aotearoa New Zealand!
When quoting Douglas, Richardson, and Heather Duplicity Allen it becomes clear as the nose on our faces that the RW gang still believe that their austerity wreaked by Douglas in the 80’was the best thing since sliced bread. Hard to believe this man was EVER a Labour representative. But then again that’s what I feel about a number of current Labour MP’s
Prebble did not represent Labour. He was an Atlas Trojan Horse. Seymour is his apprentice.

Scary thoughts but sadly for Aotearoa, you are right Nick.
Take care all you lovely people, change must come soon

Always remember a premium brand designer, from distant memory it was Louis Vuitton, saying "Our customers don't see a recession".

Great quip about Nicola Nick. I’ll be adding her pronouns each time I have to mention her name from now on.
