Thanks, Nick.

It seems each of the leaders of the CoC has taken on one aspect of Trumpism.

Winnie on immigration, David on the neoliberal wet dream, and Luxon on general incompetence.

When I read about Luxo wanting to meet his hero Don, the first thing that came to mind was the adage “a man is judged by the company he keeps”, something he obviously hasn’t learnt or is just ignoring so his fanboy moment won’t be spoiled.

As for Judith meeting Pete Hegseth and Kristi Noem, it beggars belief that anyone with a shred of decency would have anything to do with them. The Kirsti clip proves beyond doubt that there is something very wrong in the states of America, and for Judith to take anything “productive” away from their meetings does testify how low she registers on any decency scale.

Winston and Farage. No change there, both disgraces of humanity and their countries.

The only one I can think of that has had anything positive out of their overseas travels this week is Nicola. It seems she’s finally got the message that her financial end economic skills are absent, to a degree that’s embarrassing at least and has sought the wisdom of someone who actually knows how numbers work and can help.

( an extremely optimistic attempt at gaining any sense of fiscal responsibility, I admit, but at least she’s trying). I hope Christine Lagarde didn’t suffer too much trauma trying to educate Nicola. I can’t imagine it would be an easy or enjoyable task.

I imagine Nicola saying, “Oh, yes, I know” many times.

If water finds it's own level, seemingly sewerage does the same .... the sewerage being the miserable excuses for humans infecting our government, America's and potentially the UK's ... what a nauseating read Nick - not your writing good man, the content thereof!

Robin Capper's avatar

Is it just me, or has there been little or no govt comment on the current civil emergencies? I looked at Luxon's FB, not a word.

John Draper's avatar

All Luxon cares about is reducing his rates bills.

Diane Shaw's avatar

Took Luxon more than a week to respond to Tasman's state of emergency in June - the most disengaged, ineffectual, incompetent PM NZ has ever had.

Liz A's avatar

You're right, there's been nothing Robin, I said the same to my husband last night as we watched the news .. Jacinda would've been there asap, but this uncaring lot - zilch!!!

Our beloved government has removed themselves from responsibility for natural disasters

B Insull's avatar

I’m very surprised at the lack of coverage of the flooding and extraordinary wind damage generally Jill !Is this because it’s the South Island?

Or we just don’t want to talk about climate generally!

Cheryl Johnstone's avatar

That is exactly what I have been thinking Robin.....where is the PM??? The situation is very tough down there at the moment, surely to God he could at least have a message of support.

Heather Thompson's avatar

Mark Mitchell went to Christchurch before Thursday's mega storm. I've not heard of any of them venturing further to South Otago or Southland where the big problems are still.

Robin Capper's avatar

I commented on Mr Luxon's Facebook page which is still pumping out propaganda (probably on auto) like nothing has happened.

Thanks for saying just what I was thinking of saying John...!

To quote the immortal Chubby Checker, “how low can you go?” It seems that there are no limits for two of our most experienced politicians, and what great role models they are for the up-and-coming backbenchers. Suspect Winston is buying a few dirty tricks for next year, maybe Lusk’s personal phone number?

The US is a scary place for it's citizens. Normally I'd share this and other like stuff with my rellies and friends scattered across the US. But lately I've had no response.

Last week I got a hand written letter posted to me from Europe by a US friend who was over there on a business trip, explaining that they are frightened of repercussions so please be very circumspect in what I send. No more criticisms of govt.

Guess we'll be back to discussing fishing, sailing and the weather which, maybe a welcome mental respite for me also.

Trump emulating North Korea.

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

Exactly! I don't share anything political on Facebook for family reasons

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Really??? Shit I never thought of that angle....

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

I know, it's horrible - but I'd hate to be stopped at the border, have them confiscate my phone, find a mocking comment about Trump and deny me entry! After all, my daughter is in a very dangerous category - she works at a university!

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Oh you are going to America!? Fair enough, Jill I'd be the same...

B Insull's avatar

Oh no!! Stopped the exchange of ideas!

My nickname at school was 'Willis.'

I once dated a girl named Nicola.

She had an inflated sense of self importance, she was right, everyone else was wrong, a voice that could launch a thousand shits ( not a typo ) and failed the School C maths exam.

Good lord, Nicola Willis has a doppleganger !

Nick Rockel's avatar

Love it! Sounds just like her.

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

Are you sure you’re not trying to break something to us gently, Willy. Just asking. It would be hard two imagine two of them 😬

willy de wit's avatar

I know, but then again, do I ? does she ? DO THEY ?? ( cue suspenseful music ) I was going to be a bit more scathing but my agent said 'more scathing ,are you insane ?' yes was my reply...'fair enough' was his and he hung up...wait, hung up, one doesn't hang up one's phone Jeremy do they, I apologize profusely for my ineptitude, we 'end call' ! It won't make that mistake again.........or will I ?

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

I’m not sure anyone would hang up on me,would they?hmm, hang me possibly if I found out their secret. Would you? It’s pretty obvious that neither of them,(or is there only one…..?) knows much at all. It could be the voice that gives their, her, its identity away but who would willingly volunteer to listen? I think we might be on to something here Willy………I suspect it’s your agent who is insane. Scathe away while you can!!

willy de wit's avatar

I shall scathe away like no other, once I stop laughing . And I blame you and the Govt for that. My imaginary girlfriend Lucretia also blames you, imagine that !

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

Damn, I’ve been busted!! Hmm, that could be a good title for a movie. Something about a mysterious bouncy piece of cargo in a plane, I’ll have to think about that. As for the Govt and me causing all your woes, how many times do I have to tell you it was the previous government! Lucretia did tell me once that you never listen. Boy did she get that right!!!!!

willy de wit's avatar

YOU SPOKE WITH LUCRETIA ?!!? HOW DARE YOU. Well that's it, after confronting her about seeing other men, she capitulated completely , said she was in love with you, so I tossed her out like a caber. And you're right, 'Damn, I've been busted' is a great name for a movie, BUT after the success of my first book Drink, Smoke, Snort, Stroke ( thank you Penguin publishing ) I'm going to write you out of ideas. I have begun writing the first chapter of my new book 'Damn, I've been busted'. happy now ? But I'm not a total bastard...if you can get me back with Lucretia, I'll give you a copy of the book and damn the torpedoes, or dam the torpedoes, or dam the pedoes ? my head hurts.

Judge them by the people they grovel up to. I guarantee that Christine Laguard has forgotten more about economics than Willis will ever know.

Cheryl Johnstone's avatar

How embarrassing for us that she had to deal with an absolute ignoramus like Nichola Willis. She surely must have wondered how NZ is surviving with her as the Finance Minister!

Maggie Hillock's avatar

*Lagarde.

What about the meeting in Aotearoa, with the Israeli Deputy PM and Brian Tamaki et al!

Who organised that? How did Diplomatic Approval get granted for the Israeli Deputy PM come to Aotearoa? Winnie? Clucks-on? WHO?

lyn's avatar

WTF has happened to our NZ? This appalling govt has sunk so low and can be bought now, even by warmongers. This stupid coalition will support any looney-tunes who has $$ and power. They all definitely have stars in their eyes and are worshipping the worst of the worst.

Well, Karma can be a prick of a thing. But I say ,bring it on for all of them. #onetermgovernment

If Winston had anything left in him of mana, he'd pull the pin on this lot, I reckon....

wikitoria's avatar

Being a politician and having to suck up to an evil disgusting vile Trump regime! Or, they’re all showing their true colours? God help us all!

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

True colours for sure. All this was the aim from the start. So far, we've just had the prologue

Jan Kearvell's avatar

Judith’s “Excellent meetings with excellent friends”, sounds like a quote from Fergie after an Epstein orgy.

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Wow, Jan my still undisciplined old brain couldn't help starting to imagine the visuals...yikes!

Jan Kearvell's avatar

Oh, glory! Sorry, I do that often… indelible. Haha

Very much appreciated the update on how the ‘circus’ is performing.

Darien Fenton's avatar

Judith and Luxon are hoping for an invite to the new gaudy White House ballroom . Only consolation is it won't be finished by the time they are tossed out of our govt, but I see Trump's toads are now promoting a third Presidential term. May someone trip him up by his big toe.
