Last night I watched coverage of the National Party’s 88th Annual General Meeting and Conference on the news, and it left me with these three thoughts:

1. OMG could these people be any more smug - seriously? Given what they’ve done to this country over the last nine months a little less gloating and a bit more humility might be the order of the day?

2. At some point are they actually going to show some vision or plan for Aotearoa, beyond tax cuts and chanting “Back On Track”? Or are they still going to be slagging the last government off come the next election?

3. Ugh, these people are serious. They’re trying to build a John Key style multi-term government, and I’ve got a horrible feeling that a lot more Kiwis are on board with that, despite how improbable it might seem to those of us looking on in horror, than we might think.
