Willis’ commitment this morning was a meeting with her fellow Cocs. The reason she cbf nipping over to JMall is that she absolutely doesn’t care. The fib she told about her constituents being blocked from her office is a big steaming pile of crap, like so much else she says.

The current CoC have already made a statement on where they stand on Gaza with the purchase of 5 helicopters from the "Department of War" in a country that is supplying the weapons that are being used to destroy Palestine

But after watching the military parade in China aren't you happy we are now able to defend ourselves with our five helicopters and 2 planes. Being a neutral country has never looked moire inviting.

AND at five times the price the Aussies are paying! I could almost (but still not) forgive Noboats for being busy if she'd been attending arithmetic lessons 😡

Thank you Nick, for your gift of writing and expressing what I fully support but could not say so eloquently 🙏🏿

You're most welcome, Jo. 🙂

Great read Nick 💯 agree with all you've written.Im an atheist as well but brought up with Christian values & our government is sadly lacking. I think Winston is going to get down on his knees for merica & ask them what should I do he's pathetic as is Judith bloody Collins.

Just like doctors, the first commandment should be ‘do no harm’. Most people supporting most religions live with that rule, if pretenders preach otherwise then I hope there is a hell waiting on them…

Geordie Beamish..... He has a spine! Someone to admire and be proud of when such is sadly lacking for us kiwis right now. Bless that man!

Some decisions get fast-tracked, some get slow-tracked. Depends on which lobbyists/donors stand to benefit financially.....

Meant to say what a fabulous race by Beamish he timed it to perfection thankyou for showing it ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah Pauline...that is the comment I was going to make...it was the perfect run....!

It's funny how strange it feels to see inherently bad people do good things.

Jacinda Ardern, in her memoirs, recalls the way that, after the Christchurch massacre, gang members turned out to show their support for the Muslim community. Violent, drug dealing thugs they might have been, but even they decided there was stuff bad enough to make a stand against.

Likewise, it's strange to see 'religious' types turning out and doing something genuinely decent. Makes a change from lying, grifting, hypocrisy, child abuse and all the other wretchedness that these people are more famous for.

It almost makes me feel optimistic.

Great piece thanks Nick. I like to quote the African American civil rights activist James Baldwin who said "The children are always ours, every single one of the them, all over the globe and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognising this may be incapable of morality." I think he is right. Just a heads up if anyone is over on Waiheke this Friday, there's a fundraiser for the Global Sumud Flotilla at the Sustainability Centre at 5 pm. Songs and poetry for Gaza. I will be reading Michael Rosen's poem he wrote after kids were murdered in Palestine called "Don't mention the Children". It's a beautiful chilling piece which resonates even more now , after the murders of more than 20,000 people. Good on those reverends. Meantime it is local body elections. If you go to a candidates meeting ask them if their council or board will sanction Israel. I think I know what the ACT will say.

Also I loved the tweet that said Tamaki travelled to the UK to protest against people travelling to the UK. Do we have a hate speech law? Surely, we can get him on something? Is his Church paying taxes?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Brian and his band of “rent a haka”, alleged Christians, (which I sincerely hope doesn’t offend anyone reading this comment),are the worst possible advertisement for Christianity I’ve ever seen. They are an absolute disgrace to their (alleged)religion, their people, their culture, their country and themselves. The Christianity I follow is one of love for our neighbours, help for those less fortunate, peace for all and also acceptance for all, regardless of creed, colour or race. (Incidentally, I believe that if a religion is merely a following of various morals, values and practices, atheism could well be considered as an abstract form of one). After the Christchurch horror we were invited to a multi-faith service by our local Muslim community, a very touching and inspiring experience. Live and let live is the only way to make our world a better place. The hatred spouted from the mouths of people like Tamaki, Trump, Farage, Putin and many others will only bring war and destruction upon us all.

As for Luxon, I was watching question time in Parliament today, and when questioned about his views on the recognition of the State of Palestine by Marama, deflected any answer by saying that NZ has sanctioned Israel by various means, none of which was relevant, and still didn’t come up with anything meaningful. He’s terrified of possibly upsetting Trump, so rather than following the wants of the country he apparently governs, he backs the desires of the one he dreams of. I wish he would just leave and let the rest of us get on with real life in Godzone.

PS. Today’s song is very relevant to life in America now, a great choice👍

I see the priests are now saying they won't leave until Willis meets with them!

👍Same re not being religious but with the teachings of Jesus via Sunday school forming part of my moral code - not a surprise because it is good basic human behaviour eh⁉️ The last Pope was an influence for good, and the current one seems to be building on that by speaking out on many things - his clergy (with his support) in the USA have become involved in opposing the anti-immigrant raids by putting their bodies on the line in some instances, and to me this is what using your influence for GOOD is about. Suspect the far right neo-nazi Charlie Kirk worshipping crowd won't be influenced, but the general population is what will turn the tide if anything can at this stage, and the Catholic constituents will have their part to play if they choose 💪 Yes, the history of the church is problematic but it is what you do about it that matters today 🤷. Same with Islam - at core a peaceful loving religion with some doing terrible things in it's name.

As for the 3-headed-Taniwha stalling on the recognition of a Palestinian state - I read they are not going to announce it til Winnie-the-💩 has an international audience to get a big ego boost & international moment in their electioneering propaganda tool-kit. Hope the push back is "what the F*# took New Zealand govt so long⁉️" rather than any kudos from world leaders or media 🤞

Thanks Nick, lapsed Anglican here. More agnostic than atheist. If I was going to be a Christian, the Sermon on the Mount would be a great place to start. Unfortunately capitalism has corrupted everything it touches, including the “souls” of most politicians.

Don’t wait our spineless CNN leader luxflake. The man who claims to be a Christian but in India prostrated himself to another. He’s just a prostitute to the highest bidder and he’s waiting for his instructions from his American friends. And please don’t refer to witless as the honourable anything. She is anything but. She can’t met with the priests cause she doing catchup math lessons
