The turning point in my day usually comes an hour or two after I’ve sent out my newsletter. The first reviews are in, did people like it? Were any typos complete howlers? And I start to think - what next? A change in focus from the previous topic to the next, a “pivot” if you’re a fan of management speak.

Sometimes there are multiple topics to choose from. I tell you, this government is useful for something. Other days you draw a blank, and fall back on old standbys.

Did an MP behave badly? Has someone in the media outdone themselves in slippery tongued sycophancy? Press conferences, stand ups, peculiar pronouncements, all possibilities. How about a longer form political interview? Interpreting what was really said, and wasn’t? Options are pretty limited for those these days.
