Great post, Nick, and spot on. Here’s the letter we wrote to the Post in response to this bottom-of- the-barrel item

In his front page piece on Christopher Luxon (Luxon's high stakes US trip), Luke Malpass has managed to hit an all time low. His previously thinly-veiled bias and unwavering support for our PM is laid completely bare in this advertorial disguised as journalism.

Given his background with The New Zealand Initiative, It's hardly surprising that Luke Malpass holds right-wing views. What is surprising is that a newspaper that claims to provide balanced reporting can happily print his constant cheer leading.

Thanks Nick. Pretty much everything (probably everything, but I'll give them some wiggle room) this government does is seedy. Teetering on the edge of integrity. Lacking in vision. Lacking awareness of how we Kiwis rock. And now Luke thinks we should feel proud that Luxon might become Trump's friend. Truly, who are these aliens?

That Luxon admires those with a country where its 'leadership' is disintegrating explains the unexplainable. People like Malintent writing it plainly, well, just make it plain. So, disgusting, but kind of perversely helpful.

These aliens were bottom feeders in 'Neeuwe Ziland' who made their way to the USA where they ass-licked their way into the arms of the American Corporatist think tanks, just like their mentor the bottom-feeder-made-good "Sir" John Key had done before them...all we need to do to get this is ask why they have appeared out of NZ's political nowhere JUST LIKE JOHN KEY, to land in such powerful positions: because they have been trained and funded by American Corporate Neoliberal Fascists. This not a conspiracy, it is a FACT. As George Bernard Shaw said long ago about New Zealand's culture... "FAR,FAR, FAR TOO MANY SHEEP!!!". Us Kiwis need to wake up.

Another great post Nick. Unfortunately it becomes harder to laugh off the incompetent and deluded nature of the decisions made by this COC. Add to this Penk’s building inspections from a distance and Winston’s usual dog whistle rumour style attack and it made yesterday another head shaking one as to how this happened to our Aotearoa.

Frankly, Mac, I find the concept of 'laughing off' what started to happen to NZ under Rogernomics and has finally reached full fruition under the Key/Luxon/Seymour Neoliberal ideology a grotesque manifestation of the great Kiwi weakness: thinking "we are far enough away from it all to not have to worry too much"...it makes me feel ill.

Great post Nick. I thought we already had a 'herd of special interest' called Tahr! Why don't those idiots get rid of them instead. It sounds like a'why don't we let possums in' moment! If this happens there goes our unique flora. Also how embarrassing to say 'our most American PM', but it is accurate as he knows and cares little about NZ culture and history.

So, Luxon is going to the USA, pretending to go to the NATO , but really snuggling up to Trump and his buddies… ( not Biden, that’s just pretending).

The video of “Luxon’s ad”( you also mentioned it yesterday), which is surfacing now on several channels and questioned by a few ( like, what is he advertising for??) is in my view a subtle preparation for a possible win by Trump in November and to embrace this idea. Have you heard about ‘Project 2025?’ You better educate yourselves! If this happens, it will be implemented here as well as Luxon pretty much adores him. In November, Americans will vote between a totalitarian government under Trump or a democratic government under Biden’s team.

The sad truth is that most people are not even aware of what ‘Project 2025’ entails nor have even heard of it!! This 900 page manifesto is basically a modern day version of Hitler’s Mein Kampf!!!!

To “Think about America “ … makes me physically sick right now!

Expand full comment

Thank you for addressing Project 2025. There are several substacks addressing the dangers and horrors found in this manifesto. I highly recommend seeking them out. But only in small doses to avoid the physical sickness you mention.

A snippet directly from Project 2025's 900 page manifesto -

"The next conservative President must make the institutions of American civil

society hard targets for woke culture warriors. This starts with deleting the terms

sexual orientation and gender identity (“SOGI”), diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”), gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender-sensitive,

abortion, reproductive health, reproductive rights, and any other term used

to deprive Americans of their First Amendment rights out of every federal rule,

agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists."

And that's just the start of Project 2025. They want to gut environmental protections, open Alaska National Wildlife Refuge areas for gas and oil production, completely transform the administrative state, the list goes on and on. And they are open and telling the world exactly what kind of administration trump would run should he win.

Every time pundits start babbling about Biden's age and his ability to serve I want to scream that there are no options. America can either remain a democracy under Biden or it can become a Christo-Fascist state under Trump. In an ideal world there would be a young charismatic leader waiting in the wings to take the baton, but that's not the world we live in at the moment. And the idea that Luxon is over there cozying up to Ted Cruz should horrify all of us.

Luxon in turbo brown-nosing mode is even reported as saying he is "...a bit of an American political junkie" (Claire Trevitt on tour with the PM today's NZ Herald). What an unfortunate and revealing choice of words - how alarming.

Thanks Nick - when I regularly complained to The Post about bias in their politics they NEVER published criticisms of our friend that I came to call “Puke Mallarse”. I wonder how he and the other sick-o-phants will justify Luxo meeting with Ted Cruz, he of the Project 2025. That’s the way he rolls…

It makes it easier for pissed off kids to get them on the way to school, rather than bother going to the gun shop. Is the culture of shoot first, ask questions later, fast food, fast cars, blatant disregard for the rights of black people immigrants, women and anyone else who doesn't fit the far right "Christian" ethos the culture Luxon understands, admires and wants to bring home with him after his grovelling, immersive trip into all that makes America great? I think we can probably do without that kind of "culture".

One thing I wonder about when the far right invoke Jesus' name to justify their actions is: do they realise he was neither Christian or White?
