Thanks Nick, I 100% agree with your lineup of Arses. I DO NOT KNOW how Tama sleeps at night - I hope his soul and every fibre of his body is screaming with dissonance!

I would have included David Shitmore, as the ultimate evil bastard though, because as Minister of Regulation he has nicely set himself up to review EVERY policy and will undoubtedly put a neoliberal spin on everything. I feel more than a little despondent about the pervasiveness of the neolibs in NZ politics now. How do we fight back?

What is it about being right wing and/or wealthy, that turns you into a bastard? Is it a rule, perhaps? Tama Potaka is such a total disappointment, and Leo Molloy, well, I couldn't write the necessary words.

Expand full comment

Leo Molloy is beyond despicable.

Expand full comment

Yes, an evil little goblin is Leo.

Absolutely a pre-requisite...like a thing I saw the other day, "How is it every Musk-fanboy I see ends up being a complete loser?"...nope, badly paraphrased - I found it :D https://ifunny.co/video/mike-scollins-i-don-t-wanna-make-a-broad-generalization-xY0BZ3YGA

I have absolutely no idea how Tama Potaka and David Seymour can say they are proud of their whakapapa when all they are doing is shitting all over Māori at every turn.

These two, along with Shane Jones and Shane Reti need to hang their heads in shame and by god they really need to watch their backs.

Their tūpuna are watching them.

Hope so!

Agree with all of the above and another piece of incredible writing Nick.

Potaka, like Seymour, has no respect for their whakapapa or anyone else’s. I can only guess their first spelling words were me, my and I.

I do wonder though… could these movements in the Waitangi Tribunal be a clear action and reflection of the feedback to the ToW and RS Bill’s? A pre-emptive move because these Bills haven’t gone as straight forward as they hoped? So load the Tribunal in preparation?

It just seems they are so underhand, they appear to cover their bases before we know there is a gap

Just wondering

You could be right Jo. More reason to deplore Tama Potaka for going along with it.

Quite suspicious I agree Jo!!

Thanks for clarifying the Golriz thing, Nick. I was stunned that was reported on even. Mind you Stuff also got duped by that serial media crazy woman earlier in the week about the LA fires… The story I heard was that Golriz was asked to leave a Pac n Slave BEFORE going through the checkout or trying to exit. Which to my mind is NOT shoplifting. Atlas sure had a big week in the media. Do you think they got an early tip that NAct were tanking in the polls?

Expand full comment

Stuff continues to disappoint, honestly, I really miss Newshub - the webpage more than the TV news.

Haha!!

AND it was October last year - and police tried to, unsuccessfully, include it in the other shoplifting case last year. FFS its not as though there isn't enough going on to report. I agree its probably a 'dead cat' at poor Golriz expense, aue - to distract from a country awakening to the shitshow that is this government

On recent form Tama could already get an honorary bastard award for lifetime achievements. Left field nominations for this week should include the folk who leaned on TVNZ news to put in an Israeli denial within 10 minutes of an AP reporter telling it like it really is in Gaza. Very curious about who they phoned - not Simon Dallow who read it out, but his newsroom boss, or TVNZ boss, or Chairman at TVNZ, or the Minister?? Another new low for our state broadcaster

Certainly a right bevy of barsta*ds. How does Tama sleep at night? How much does it cost to buy a seat on this version of the tribunal?

Expand full comment

"A right bevvy of bastards" would've been a good title. I'm guessing the entry price is a nod and a wink and a promise not to think or at least say anything.

what a bunch of deplorables ...

What a traitor to his own people. I gave Potaka the benefit of the doubt when he first became a minister. There was a faint chance he may have intended to fight for them around the Cabinet table. Instead, he has joined them in their quest to trample all over the rights of NZ's indigenous race. Shame, shame on him. A bastard in sheep's clothing.

no backbone ...

I was struggling to get past Richard Prebble. Then look what happened next. They are all indeed bastards. It is a word I use a lot these days. And Nick, thanks for the Ben Folds song. I hadn't heard this before, or followed him much. But it is now on my must have play-list. Bastards - all of them.

So much to agree with here. Tama clearly has no conscience. I’m sickened about the Treaty Tribunal. Knowledgeable people with unparalleled expertise chucked out and replaced by pale, male, stale types who will do everything to shut it down. Absolute travesty. And getting little media attention.

I dread how this year is going to pan out knowing that from 2016 to 2020 I spent too much time being angry and fed up due to what was going on in USA. Now its all here as well! In all of my 71 years I have NEVER felt so exercised about a government, and a huge part of that is people such as Potaka who always looks as if butter wouldn't melt. But then I realise, that is his suck up compliant and benevolent look. Shame on them all!

Expand full comment

Sadly, I don't even think we realise the long-term repercussions of some of their changes yet. But I do think things will start to turn this year. The right must be getting alarmed at Luxon. There is no way he is a three-term PM, and the polls aren't looking flash. Who knows what Winston will do later this year?

Expand full comment

I say it almost on a daily basis....I can't believe this is happening. I was dismayed when Prebble was appointed but you're right Nick, his job was to identify the rabble trousers. And now he's done it. Watch this space. At work the derogatory term for men like Potaka was "plastic". He is.

we can only trust that when the Left win the next election that the stables are well and truly flushed out.

Amen Cheryl, just when you think the worst is happening, tomorrow brings yet another assault. I prefer to think of Potaka as a traitor, a kupapa (Maori who fought with the British against Maori in the NZ Wars). Potaka tells us he is a proud Maori, however his actions speak louder. I do not know how he can hold his head high now. He is devoid of mana.

We all know how much Luxon adores America but never did I think our country would follow the bastardry so closely under his supposed leadership! his is a beige version of the corruption of democracy about to be unleashed there. Speaking of trump I was delighted to see this morning that Gaia has spoken in that his coronation is having to be moved indoors because of a freakish cold weather system "too bad, how sad, bad luck, never mind"

Gaia always wins in the end Vicky. Just don’t let Trump know, he’ll call Gaia a hoax as well. Then where would we all be ??🤔🤔😀

With the prospect of Trump as king of the world that would be something of a blessing😂

I'm a great believer in karma Jeremy, also at the rate trump is deteriorating mentally I cannot see him "reigning" for the full 4 years ..... there's comfort too in that wise old saying "this too shall pass" - applicable to the Coalition of Cruelty here as well.

Given that he is a puppet for malign forces, including Atlas, I suspect we have to be much more active, not just wait for it to pass. Unfortunately.

Agreed but being philosophical helps down here at the bottom feeder level when age bites and personal resources are limited :/

🙋 Not sure how this works, but MY assumption was he had been told not many people are coming so he couldn't boast about the size of his... Crowd... So by moving indoors ⁉️🤷

Just read this on Heather Cox Richardson's excellent sub stack from the US "The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., for Monday’s inauguration predicts a high in the low 20s (approximately –5° Celsius), and late this afternoon, Trump announced on his social media company that he was moving the inauguration inside to the Capitol Rotunda because of the cold." ... but you are right Cindy in that he cannot lie about the size of his crowd this time! - small mercies!

With the Waitangi Tribunal it is possible to reappoint current members, so all the commentator's your page & you too Nick are correct to say this Atlas Network loading of the Tribunal is a 'get rid of same' move. We, all New Zealanders who want to live in a decent, fair society, have a real fight on our hands against Big Money takeover at the next election. Hopefully this year!
