Gotta say Court is a braver man than me, trying to dictate to woman in that department. 56 years married, and no scars, here.

What is plod doing about the obvious stalking of Golriz by this car salesman. They're pretty energetic bout gang patches, but, human misery! not a sign.

I was just thinking the same thing would this not be the same thing as stalking it's truly disgusting.

Simon court should be made to wear a cup... over his mouth.

No no I think he should wear a panty liner over his mouth, like Trumpy rumpity did on his ear

Good idea... and when he tries to remove it it'll take his stash with it LOL

I had a similar thought.

It's not easy being a mature grown up about this matter when we have politicians saying such crap aye? LOL

The mansplaining continues unchecked. Simon Court has the brain of a snail. I am reminded of this old but delightful little sketch when confronted with the remarks of red-necked ignorance and stupidity:

It's funny, but not funny when you think these attitudes are still so widely held.

They would all fit into the Orange One’s Whitehouse, could they charter a plane and emigrate en-masse?

Expand full comment

What a great idea!

Expand full comment

I would suggest that they be sent elsewhere, preferably by ship. Two reasons. If the got to the White House it would only inflate Trump’s ego even further. Also, planes seem to be experiencing “rapid unscheduled disassembly events” at the moment, as President apparent Musk describes these happenings. It’s possibly the only worst outcome for anyone than being invited into the Trump fold. Or not.

My husband once told me he was "a lexicon of information about menopause." Has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

Happy to challenge his misogyny one comment at a time. It's practically a full-time job.

Tell him to come up with a cure for all the issues you get with it if he's so clever.

I suspect Pauline, you might be looking at this the wrong way entirely. There’s no need for a cure as everyone knows that any female ailment is either only present in their feeble minds, or an attention seeking device to make men, who know so much more about “ladies matters”, feel compelled to comfort their wives, daughters etc through the torment they’re suffering. I think it’s probably why Simeon was given the Health portfolio, as he is no doubt as expert about this as Simon. Any suspicion of malaise can be dealt with by a cup of tea and a biscuit, or a good lie down for an hour or two. It would also cut the need to spend so much money on “women’s health” thereby halving the Healthcare budget instantly. Genius move Luxo!!!

I hope this makes you feel better Pauline, now that I’ve explained the realities of life………….

No, I didn’t think so. Me either. Where do these drongos come from?? Where can we lock them up?🤔🤗

I have heard Chris explain several times that two (I think) past National governments would have been one term if the relevant elections had been held under MMP because Labour won the vote but not the seat distribution.

One was when Mike Moore was almost successful (again this is as I recall - it’s not my area of expertise).

Expand full comment

He is perfectly correct; a couple of times when I was growing up, Labour won the popular vote but lost the election. Aside from anything else, I think the dynamics of coalitions under MMP make such thoughts of not having single term government redundant. It is hard to see these three staying intact for three years, let alone beyond.

Seems like tshirts for soccer kids are the only ones not allowed to be worn in public. Those worn by thugs supporting a grifting hypocrite are ok.

It's worth reading Brian Tamaki's response to Chris Hipkins. It's brutish. Tamaki's crew are our Nazi stormtroopers.

I have in times past wondered such...........but in reality it is such a personal thing.........you can decide which you want to indentify as if you have the blood present. This is totally fine with me........I spose I could be Scots or Irish by choice. I love my roots. However when we talk of 1st Nation people, blood that ties you to the land of habitation does make you tangata whenua. Williams has no such blood of the 1st nation peoples of Aotearoa, thems that were here before us, and it was their home land. What I find interesting in this is that tangata whenua have been more than accommodating and gracious about the colonial sins, theft, killing and injustice. It wasn't perfect but it was getting better under successive governments, but that stopped with this shiteshow. Williams claiming tangata whenua status shows his absolute ignorance and arrogance, and the disdain for true tangata whenua that has gotten us into this mess. Kinda sad............and I am shocked at his attitudes, he did seem like a nice guy.....not so in my book anymore. I would love to claim some tangata whenua blood, but I have a very tangata whenua heart...and that implies empathy, understanding and awareness of tikanga and kaupapa as well as the injustices and the history. So I am happy to be Tangata Tiriti.........with a tangata whenua heart.

My wife is tangata whenua, so our marriage in the late 60s was a bit frowned upon. Our children, grands and greats have embraced the culture much more than she has, great to see.

It was the 'frowning' that forced culture shaming back then. I was enjoying seeing the revival, and hope with it. Now I'm a sad Tangata Tiriti. ACT's bill is a sorry episode for this country.

My friend Marina did, and several other teachers I knew would proudly say what their European ancestry was. Like everything else, claiming something repressed can overshadow other aspects. In many cases this is not deliberate. Edited to remove a repeated word.

🤷🏻‍♀️Not sure about other Iwi/hapu but Ngāi Tahu/Kai Tahu has an Act of Parliament that states anyone who is descended from kaumatua listed as living on certain dates are Ngāi Tahu by law & therefore they ARE tāngata whenua whether or not they CHOOSE to identify as such 🧐

Morena Nick,

There are a range of wrongs in these examples of behaviour by these men .

The targetted bullying by Tamaki thugs is dangerous and disgusting. I would suggest criminal.

Simon's thought that he knows what's best for menstruating women and girls is ill-nformed and demeaning. Those who've needed to control menstrual flow are likely to know what works for different women.

Peter seems to be very confused about the science of DNA and determined to deny Tangata Whenua status to Măori. A Hobson pledge approach there.

As for Chria Luzon and his attachment to his ill-fitting jacket that seems to be a personal foible inexplicae to me. Some children become attached to items of clothing regardless of suiablebility.

I'm glad you called out the behaviour of the disgusting thug Tamaki and his blackshirts.

All over the country this morning, the representatives of the assorted mainstream 'christian' churches will shuffle into the pulpits of their tawdry premises to drone on at anyone still dim enough to turn up and listen.

How many of them will take the opportunity to call out the behaviour of the fascist grifter and his goons? To state clearly that Tamaki is simply a violent criminal followed by other violent criminals and that nothing the bastard stands for is in any way representative of the christian faith?

Hardly any of them would be my guess.

The point is that genuine Christian churches don’t need their ministers to call out Tāmaki and his behaviour, because the congregations of these churches already know how wrong that man’s actions are, how unacceptable his behaviour is, and how morally bankrupt he is. What’s more, just because you appear not to be a church attender doesn’t give you the right to call those who do attend dim.

OK, would 'Morally Deficient' be more appropriate? Damn right I'm not a 'Church Attender'. That would make me complicit in a fraudulent endeavour. I consider the business of groveling before fictional deities to be an abomination.

Feel free to offer a decent, (and rational) reason why not at your leisure.

P Williams was a surprise to me also. Too many of his days spent fraternising with his wealthy mates on the right and not enough time paid to educating himself about the aftermath of colonisation and the current situation for those not so white as he proclaims to be. Having been given all of the advantages available and support to obtain these. Can’t see past his nose and superior thinking. The colonialists of Britain brought their feudal system with them. I was born in Scotland from a historical governance of feudalistic living - the haves and the have nots - how the haves have the advantages

Just read something which reveals Williams’ leanings - On 12 February 2021, Williams drew controversy when he directed listeners to an anti-vaccine site run by the "Voices for Freedom" group which was spreading COVID-19 misinformation.[6][2]

In mid February 2021, Williams questioned the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Grant Robertson about his views on the possible implications of the World Economic Forum's Great Reset for New Zealand, and the related Great Reset Conspiracy Theory. In response, Robertson ended his weekly Magic Talk interviews, stating that he did not want to "shoot down conspiracy theories."[7][8]

An Apology....

Earlier today I referred to Brian Tamaki as a 'Disgusting thug' and a 'Fascist grifter'. It was early and I hadn't had my coffee.

This should of course have included the words 'Closeted old leather queen'

My apologies for any confusion. Hope this clears it up.

Wow Nick, such a busy newsletter where to begin…I really want to say Kia kaha Chippy, again you shine like a diamond against all the rot that is on the right. I am proud of the response from Mariameno regarding the absurdity of Court’s questions. I am intrigued by Winston’s email regarding the attacks against Golriz, it sounded too empathetic and fairminded to come from the (mean) Winnie we are exposed to daily, maybe it is from one of his PR/media team trying to recoup some face/credit for dropping the ball over the relationship with the Cook Islands.

Lastly, I am Maori through my Mum and my Dad is an Aussie (of Italian and English descent) and I am proud of all of my heritage. All of me - both Tangata Whenua and Tiriti stands up for fairness and justice for Maori as detailed and agreed to in Te Tiriti.

Peter Williams, who until now I liked, clearly understands we are all New Zealanders. He doesn’t understand there was an agreement between the chiefs of two internationally recognised independent nations in 1840 that made an agreement to protect a small nation by an international Empire which guaranteed their nation state but hey did not manage to control settlers - with minimal interest in agreements and obligations - who denigrated and disregarded the original New Zealanders. We are all New Zealanders but our obligations are still binding. We the contemporary New Zealander have over the last forty years begun to correct the sins of the Pakeha. Only by owning we are Tangata Tiriti can we work honestly and successfully into a secure common Nationality. Seymour offers only “Fools Gold”. Williams will by it.
