Good on you Damien .... he's a top man too, like Chippy and Andrew Little. Pretty sad that Maureen Pugh (climate change denier ..) is leading and likely to win the 'West Coast-Tasman' electorate, over Damien.

Jenna is a parasite, with a wayward moral compass, and lacking in judgement ... everything is about her. Thanks for your candid writings and ability to clearly put things in perspective, Nick

Agree, and didn't Simon Bridges say that moron poo was f'ing useless?

Yep, he sure did - it was part of that lovely phone conversation he was having with the narcissistic Jamie Lee-Ross .... who was supposedly one of the up and coming Nats leaders.

I thought the media might have let up on Labour once they had their way but Anna Burns Frances on Breakfast this morning was just cruel to Chippie!! Straight after a sad item about Shane Rettie going back on what he said about funding for a hospital that had been ring fenced by labour. I just felt saddened. If only Chippie had said, Fuck off Anna!!! I know he never would of course.

Ignoring ignorant reporters’ questions would be a good strong labour policy to start off with. We would all rejoice. So much time saved if they just walk on by.

There's a couple at the top of that party I'd really like to say those words to. He should have taken Jenna into the loo with him and shoved the microphone and her down it. (Oops I can hear Jacinda -'be kind Trish'). It's the respectful manner I so appreciated about Jacinda and the genuine and gentlemanly manner of both Chippy & Andrew Little. Professionals I have spoken to in the health industry - all thought Andrew was a really nice bloke! Yeah - perhaps we should do a code of silence to the vultures. Surely the goodness of Labour will rise above the muck we're about to endure. (I'm starting to settle down a little - honestly).

I believe you lol.

I do like and admire you Nick! You tell it how it is, and with a suitable Labour serving of kindness! Thank you once more!!

I would like to say that to her too. And to all her nasty lacking-in-empathy colleages. So it's not just about holding the government to account, as they have insisted, it's about hating on Labour. Three long bloody years ahead.

Colleagues! I can't seem to edit my comment.

I'm still waiting for all the specials to be counted. So until then, and knowing that special votes normally support the incumbent, I'm of the opinion that several Labour people will still be MPs, and the Nact lot will HAVE to let Winnie in, on his terms.

Can't wait for that!!

Same here Jacqueline .... Nats have lost 2 seats in the last 2 elections on the specials. Luxon, of course, spins it the other this time and says that the overseas specials will all go the NACT way, due to Labour's Covid response to ex pats wanting to return. The key point here is that there are only about 60K of overseas specials out of the 550K of total specials - which of course he doesn't speak about. The left have 'won' the specials 5 out of the last 6 elections; even when Key was in charge.

Yes- you are correct aboutthe specials, especially about the overseas votes. I also hope National drop a couple of seats so the Winnie is needed to form a government. Then we really will have the coalition of chaos.

I just found out a certain member member of my whanau gave her party vote to old Winnie. She gave her electorate vote to the Labour candidate. She sad she knew Labour were going to lose, and she wanted Winnie in the Coalition as a handbrake on the Nacts-especially Seymour. Oh well!!!

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a fortnight of Labour telling the trio of J-Girls to 'feck off' at EVERY ambush.

If they want soundbites to peddle, newsmedis should get them from Nact Parties.

They're a bunch of vultures hovering to see who is the body they can scavenge.

My heroes yesterday were Damien and Helen. My hero today is Nick for writing about it all so well. Wasn't it extremely weird the way the super-suited penguin National caucus all stood around in a circle at attention and listened to Luxon speak? I bet they would all have been thinking "Is it always going to be boring like this?". Sadly, the answer is YES!

Come on whanau ,we've got that out of our systems now so let's keep it seemly and respectful please ,even to our so called journalists .

As Michelle Obama said ,or was it Luxons granny ,when they go low we go high.

I laughed at that misquoted comment of his because my Scottish granny used to sing that, its the chorus from The Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond. A song of loss and longing in the great Scottish tradition ,seems appropriate for where we are now?

More respect for Damien that ever. That sentiment should have been expressed ages ago to that woman! I reckon he got cheers when he went back in the room. Greens photo was lovely. It has been an exhausting three years. We know the work Labour did was magnificent especially with Covid-19, but as ever this country likes to knock the tall poppies down.

Superb commentary. I saw Damien on the Tv news but of course they blacked out Fuck off. Take that. Perfect response. Those reporters deserve no respect. Are they going to spend the next three years beating up on the opposition and paying no attention to the antics on the governing bench?

Thanks for your great opinion well written again I love it. I hope Chippie gets some mongrel back, like he gave to Cunliffe those years ago when he deserved it. Go Chippie , Grant and Megan and Damien (isnt it sounding so much stonger already than natz/act puppy pack) lead the way, do a 3 party solid front with Greens and TePati Maori

Good to see that Chippy is staying on, we cannot afford ' A night of the long knives' at this stage - calm rational debate about what went wrong and what worked. lets face it , it's tad early to worry about how Labour will go in 2026 esp as we don't know just how disfunctional the 3 headed beast wil be in government.

I think maybe the long knives are sitting in Nicola's kitchen drawer, waiting, waiting...

Agree with all that has been said already & I'd just to add that that song is a fabulous touch!

I think every person who has had a break-up & trying to deal with it as best they can should have it on repeat & as loud as can be!

Fuck you Jenna Linchmob, Luxon, Seymore & Co and ESPECIALLY Dr Shame Reti!! I cannot believe (well actually I can knowing him) our shit stained hospital will be shafted once again so they can have their tarseal wet dream.
