Yesterday I was reading an excellent newsletter from David Slack, and I started writing a comment “Sounds like some excellent genetic heritage…” and then I stopped. There was something about the phrase genetic heritage that stopped me in tracks. Is that a phrase I want to be saying?

This is a well thought through commentary on a protest meeting with added information about the point of view of those protesting the protest. I thought that and had hoped NZers are better than those who deny the Treaty's importance and the rightful place at the decision making table for Maori.
"Isn’t that something, I thought as I watched them in the media. Of all the things they could have protested against it was a more equal society they were opposed to." There most definitely is another radio station!
Thanks for the article. I laughed at the people sitting there saying......the police arent doing anything and other stupid comments re the police inaction. Go the protesters. Hang your narrow minded heads in shame you sad sad people in the front rows.....Aotearoa has moved on thank goodness for that
A lot in there to like Nick. I get around the cringe factor as a 5th gen (both sides) by whakapapa back 30,000 years BK (Before Kupe) when sign language and facial contortion were the only interpersonal comms. The common denominator blood (whero red) was the same as were the genetic components. Those genetic markers are still the same - your granddad Syd (and mine) went to war to explain that to Nazi pure-race politicos
Aint that the truth. i.e. the protest group were definitely better singers. The anti co -governance people managed to make our National anthem sound like the dull dirge it can be without the Te Reo part to lift it. Maybe that is a good metaphor for Aotearoa/New Zealand 20/23.Thank heavens for the protestors.lol I have seen a couple of photos now of these anti co-governance meetings crawling their way down the island. Attendance does not seem to be huge, and yes ,most attending do seem to be older pākehā. Sad really.! Holding on tight to their inherent superiority.
Thanks for that Nick. I found the whole debacle of old white folks quite horrifying. But there is one thing, and it doesn't sound very nice but is probably true, I would say that many of these 'lovely folk' will no longer be on this earth in another ten years which is something :)

Thank you for this great article
They're a VERY small minority, they have no succession plan, they merely 'rage, rage, against the dying of the light ...'

am I allowed to say that the sooner these 'pink people' die off the better.
As Fiona states "a debacle of old white folks". Has a certain ring to it for sure.
