Beautifully written Nick, and a heartfelt tribute to our best Prime Minister. It's wonderful to remember her great successes, her finest moments, her brilliant speeches, her empathy and kindness, her ability to connect with people and make them the centre of her attention even if just for a minute. It's sad for our country that the conspiracy theorists, the misogynists, the far right bigots, and the sensationalist media outlets managed to drive her out. A great loss. I see that the Finnish people have slipped away from Sanna Marin - another loss for women's leadership. Life in politics is very tough for intelligent, confident, forward-looking young women.

Good work Nick. You hit it on the head because personally I feel so bad for her, we failed her dismally because and treated her like shit and it amazes me that she put up with it courageously for so long. I can't imagine any male pm having to cope with that level of open hostility and disrespect day in day out.

I only hope she has a great life post politics and recieves the love and support we failed to provide.

So beautiful Nick. I am still consumed with grief that we became this country of selfish nastiness and Jacinda was treated so appallingly. I got to call Jacinda my friend and I know she was never personally ambitious. She didn't set out to become PM and was surprised even when she became an MP from the List. I know how much she wanted to become a mum. The only consolation for me is maybe I will be able to text her now and she can reply without the watchers looking over her. But I am proud too. Proud NZ produced such an amazing PM - from Morrinsville! She will truly rate as our no 1 PM ever.

Wow. Thanks Nick.

I realise I'm still grieving at the loss of Jacinda as our PM.

She almost certainly saved my life with her handling of the pandemic.

The enormous sense of pride so many of us felt when she was admired by world leaders and overseas press, in bizarre contrast to the haters who complained and blamed here.

Her empathy and leadership at the horror of the Christchurch shooting led me to attend a Mosque for the first time in my life, to pay my respects. The images of armed police including many women on guard, and the warmth of the welcome we received meant a profound experience in so many ways.

The frustration I felt at the orchestrated negativity from the opposition, Mike Hosking and the Hosking wanabees, and the other spreaders of lies and misinformation must have been unbearably difficult for her to cope with. I do hope Jacinda and her family are able to enjoy the future they want.

Beautifully written Nick, she was the best and the misogynists just couldn't stand seeing an intelligent, competent young woman running the country. Her future is bright and I look forward to following whatever career she chooses.

Damn you Nick for adding that song at the end. You well & truly made sure sure the waterworks were activated.

Thankyou for expressing so well what Jacinda meant to so many of us over the last 6yrs.

The naysayers & the haters hurt us all & especially our amazing PM. I wish her all the best & all the happiness she is entitled to.

Like my wonderful late Mum used to say 'You have the right to be happy'

Jacinda, Clark and Neve if nothing else, certainly deserve that.

Father God looked down, frowned and spoke thusly: “Oh people of Aotearoa how could you treat so abominably the one who showed such compassion, commitment and an astonishing ability to lead you through disaster and pandemic and in doing so saving the lives of hundreds of your fellow citizens?

Yet you continue to tolerate those individuals, and groups of haters, nazis and “loonie tunes” who promulgate dissension, misinformation, disinformation and hate towards those who are not them.

I am saddened and disconcerted by your behaviour.”

Father God shaking his head then turned away and went off to make a cup of tea and have a lie down.
