The rage and despair are so real and get worse everyday. Media seem to be slowly turning, like bringing the Titanic around, but everywhere feels so unsafe and the sheer enormity of the destruction is overwhelming. 'Getting back on track' is cruel irony given its these pricks who have derailed the whole country on a scale of the Tangiwai disaster 😭

Tino pai Nick. At least when these Ministers plead ignorance they are not always lying, DNA tests would confirm that they were born ignorant.

According to the saying, "ignorance is bliss" so we can assume that means the one with the biggest smile is the most ignorant of all? There are plenty of contenders in the Coalition of Cheesy-grinning Cockwombles.

Yes boo indeed! To all those right-wing haters that can’t see anything past their own noses and rant and rage about things they only know a little about but think they know everything)and this includes our current coalition mob) I hesitate to call them a government because they are not governing- they are dictating which is very surprising because of their weird neoliberal ideology of small government! Haha / this mob wants to be involved in the minutiae of everything but can’t even do the big stuff like planning and making policies that actually work for the majority of people- and don’t even get me started on Israel taking part in the Olympics- we’ve had our own household protest at this by simply turning the television off! Small- but a protest nevertheless

I get so angry when I think what Israel are doing I think Netanyahu is doing his best to start a bigger war busy bombing Lebanon who is in no position financially to defend itself. As for killing the one Hamas guy that was part of the negotiations to swap hostages beggars belief the.y do everything with impunity they have far too much power in America as well. It shows how much power they've got when you see them in the Olympics after being ruled war criminals by the ICC obviously got some sway in France.

Hopefully when voting comes around for us there will be enough pissed off people 🤞🤞🤞

I'm glad you listen to "red neck radio" so I don't have to hear mike foreskins rants. Your hardier than me.

And, yes, Israel shouldn't be there, which is why I've boycotted the games, no watch, no read, no listen.

As per my comment to Jim I seldom actually listen, I just glance look at the written content. The one I really can't stand is Sean Plunket on the Platform, that's way beyond just being biased.

I have tried to listen a few times........but as well as demeanor...Sean's haircut puts me off fast......just like Hannity's.......but you need to go into these places to know your enemy, and remind yourself they are still saying the same old same old shite..........and yet in your own head you are dynamically moving on and growing.....reflecting and modifying views, taking in new info, and them......well, same old same old haircut.

Amazing number of posts Nick and so glad I found them and have something to read that brings facts as well as some joy to the day along with many good chuckles. My wife, who reads the Herald bless her, pointed out Audrey Young’s rating of MPs this morning and clearly Audrey either has a reality problem or is on another planet. She actually gave the cockwomble 8/10. Manaakitia mai Aotearoa.

Yes I saw Maria Sherwood posting about Audrey's ratings and suggesting she was in an alternate reality.

I say keep writing Nick, I appreciate the reality view that is less obvious from other sources. It is NOT a cost of living issue over subscriptions, but a spin response action that suits an alternate agenda, for those that can, at least 80%+ of us, a subscription to your substack has more value than other publications. Some comment this morning reminded me of my lecturing role in the past on Management Accounting, one segment detailed how some decisions can have an adverse effect. An example we often see is a branch closure when it does not make a profit, the effect then is that other branches have a greater burden of the increased Operating Expense share, pushed on to all. Something like cutting government costs, with a corresponding drop in government income. Govt expenditure = govt income, it cannot be otherwise. The spin that govt is running out of money, is completely false, as the govt actually prints, or creates all "currency" that is in circulation, actually fiat currency, not money as that is a false concept that only exists because our economic "systems" support that false concept.

Oh I'm definitely continuing writing, but I am getting more comfortable with the idea of making more posts paywalled.

I don't mind in the least paying for your writing, as the main media don't do the good job it used to. We need to read some good analysis from you, G news & BHN to hear the truth about the wreckage this Government has inflicted on NZ society.

I understand that Luxon's TikTok post was his attempt to upstage Vladimir Putin's horse riding, tough guy with a gun showpiece which has been broadcast worldwide. Just before Luxon was about to tear his shirt off to expose his manly CEO chest, grab his newly available AR15 assault rifle and jump on his horse's back, the horse got wind of the plan and kicked its water trough over him. Apparently the horse couldn't face the embarrassment and exile the herd would have sentenced it to. Of course, this may or may not have really happened, but can we be sure?

Tautoko that Nick, I suggest you refrain from listening to Hoskins, the most vile individual in the media space.

I haven't tuned my radio to 1ZB for years..... I cannot do it, sooooo toxic, fkn unbelievable!

Expand full comment

I confess I seldom listen to ZB, I just go to the website for the articles. There is the very occasional good one but mostly I'm there to see what spin people are being fed.

Expand full comment

The spin must be appalling. I thought I was speaking to someone rational and left-leaning this week & when they moaned the tax cuts were nothing special...I said yeah, but we'll be paying off the $12B for the rest of our lives. They said, really? Did they borrow for the tax cuts? I said yes....and then they cut all services as well. They said, "Ah yes- it's always like this when National get in and have to undo all of Labour's over-spending". Aye???

I can’t stand him either, he’s arrogant, racist and elitist just like all his ilk.

Adore the name ‘cockwomble’ which my subliminal mind reads as the coalition of ‘cockwobblers’. Liked their poetry actual. Congrats on 666th edition! Our rates risking $725 pa grrr. Chhour the front for the wobblers (best not use the taboo word again) will be the one to take the fall and she deserves it. Yes, agree it is time to make sanctions if Israel does not formulate a peace deal. Hard to understand why Luxflakes and his troupe are not shown up in the press for all of this guff they spout out in parliament! Nonscensicle cockwombling (oops just changed the spelling in time)

Imposing sanctions requires moral fibre and a basic sense of right and wrong.

How about the athletes from Russia? They’re there, competing under a different label. You are against Israel but remember the unprovoked attack on Ukraine. Personally, I like that there’s a team of refugees at the Olympics. How about you focus on some of the positives.

Expand full comment

"During 2023, the IOC settled on its Paris Olympics policy: No Russian or Belarusian teams, which by definition represent a nation, but invite selected athletes. They must have passed vetting first by their sport’s governing body, then the IOC, to have not supported the war nor had funding or links to military or state security agencies.

The long and picky vetting processes both infuriated officials in Russia — claiming it was humiliating and politicized — and let the IOC avoid imposing a blanket ban. That severe option could have been legally challenged. It also risked setting a tricky precedent to follow in future wars involving other countries."

In regard to the suggestion that I focus on some of the positives, this week I wrote glowingly about the Women's Sevens team, Hayden Wilde the triathlete, as well as the opening ceremony.

Good point, we only do not action anything against Russia as they threaten retaliation, so that scars us off, but Israel, well that's different - somehow. So very similar to Maori, they complain that WE have not treated them equally, but they are a smaller portion of the population, so WE can ignore them - but there are consequences, there always are!

Don't they actually think for themselves - the answer is no !
