Thank you Nick

Doing the journalists’ work for them

Very revealing.

The truth generally is...!

Yes Nick, I agree with Rosemary, doing the Jounalists job. There is always a Why did this event happen. Another Why is what was it that Doosey said that made JAG cross the floor to show him evidence in the first place?

Hansard shows that Doocey ( along with Grant McCallum ) was taunting Rachel Boyack with crap like " Can't you read " while she was attempting to ask questions. My take on Julie Anne is it appeared that she was raising her arms in exasperation after waving some papers ( not a book ) at Doocey. The media have grossly played this anti Green stuff out again.

All these stories about, usually female, usually brown politicians stink to high heavens. I have NO doubt there's a "dirty tricks" team - the counterpoint to the 7 person social media team apparently essential to our "prime minister" 🙄 - geared up to throw shit at the wall whenever there's an issue in the polls. And media are either totally complicit or wilfully ignorant. And there's MUCH more to come unfortunately. A flood of disinformation is headed our way, especially once all the racist proposals bills rise to the surface

I find it interesting that the heat came on Julie Ann in a week that the Greens were up and right was down in the polls. Why did JAG take out her phone and record? Not usual if she was attacking. No sweet smell about this story.

Yes so true, convenient timing with so call allegations right on cue by crap journalism.

Would love to see what she recorded

Great work Nick - hopefully Gerry Brownlie will call the pamphlet waving some "some rough and tumble of politics".

Very on point, Graeme.

I agree Graeme! Well done Nick! We need you!!

Unlikely- it will go to the privileged committee

When the ‘story’ broke i was intrigued by the media pile-on. Of course JAG was lefty, female, intelligent - but she wasn’t brown (the other big one on their checklist). Maybe a North American accent and riding a bike sum to an equivalent fault. Saturday night tv found more allegators - nasty folk who appear out of the murk to make allegations

There are numerous reports about bullying and verbal abuse by the short-fused Finance Minister. But doubt any media will touch that.

Expand full comment

Yes she should be the one being investigated

And as for Mrs Cranfield. So easy to 'claim' that JAG "grabbed my arm". No proof, just another person misguided about the impact that pedestrianisation of Lambton Quay will have on her business.

Another highly credible source. Here's Mrs Cranfield encouraging people not to wear masks during Covid:

Oh god say no more

Brilliant work Nick.

Good comments here. Also, I note no media has actually reported on why JAG lost her temper with the government minister. Could it be the government is doing something that their donors or lobbyists want rather than what people and the country needs?

Expand full comment

Yes and not reading the reports or evidence as usual they think they know best!

Expand full comment

Not reading the report and constantly denying what is in it. She crossed the floor in absolute and utter frustration and waved it in his face and said here's the evidence. Read it.

Hundred percent Nick. It’s where I went as soon as the story broke and your great mahi proves it. I hate that media outlets consistently go with one-sided accounts like this. Tabloid journalism is the curse of our times, well one of them anyway. I learned about the need for balance at the start of my journalism career and never reneged on it. Left when it started to turn ugly - foot in the door, mic in the face, bias creeping in - and have never regretted it. Thank god there are a few - too few- advocates of the full truth left to hold the increasingly gutter press to account.

Expand full comment

Well commented, Anna. Media do mic in the face and that's not called 'bullying'. MSM throw hand grenades where there might instead have been a bunch of flowers if handled differently. And the bad story is believed even by the disbelievers. ...Don't you love the song? That's what I imagine about a florist shop, not the awful reviews for this one. What a waste. There must be other underlying problems. ...Because as I trained people back in the day, 'the customer isn't always right, but the customer is always the customer'.

Thanks Annie. Powered by righteous anger🤣

Thank you for digging into this Nick. Such deliberately poor journalism raining down just as the Greens are soaring in the polls. No coincidence here. I wonder what Genter recorded on her phone. She’s a good MP, this is just dirty politics.

Expand full comment

While we do so need to retain our own media outlets, not Rupert Murdoch, it is also understandable why people generally have lost faith in the MSM. This pile on of Julie Anne is just another of these that attack one side of the political spectrum and give a free pass to the other. This is why your posts are essential reading Nick. Thank you. Do you have the “bed leg” report yet?.

Expand full comment

Ha - I'm pretty sure that report will never see the light of day.

Expand full comment

I agree with you Nick! Poor reporting and in fact an agenda to take down the Green Party who are more popular than Act or NZF. JL needs to retract her one sided story and offer an apology!

I too read the various reviews of the Four Seasons Florist and immediately thought it was almost certain that the florist had targeted Julie Ann who after all, is an easy target as a high profile cycling advocate. The florist’s sign is all in capitals, regarded as shouting, and clearly, she doesn’t like being challenged. I don’t know about the Cranfield owner but what I’ve seen tells me she is angry about cyclists and changes on Lambton Quay. She said she identified and approached Julie Ann. Again, I can only wonder at what she said and how she said it. All that said, Julie Ann will have to find ways to deal with these disaffected people as she will remain an easy target.

That was the reason she recorded the conversation

Somehow we need to get obnoxious Uffindell kept to the forefront of people’s minds. I cannot believe anyone would vote for this cruel, bullying individual. I’m so fed up with women being targeted constantly.

Expand full comment

That should be the strategy, Sue. After all, it's what the coalition is doing. Deflect, deflect, deflect.

Expand full comment

Agree. Nick’s column comments about the way other “allegations” just came up reeks of manipulation by National spin.

Thank you for going to the trouble of investigating this.

It seems to be yet another attempt by right wing media to belittle the value of a fast rising threat to the incumbent Coalition of Continual Cockups. Green, along with Te Pati Maori and Labour, should they join forces, will wipe the floor with Luxon, Peters and Seymour Inc at the next election, that's if they survive that long. As for JAG, I would love to see a debate between her and Morticia Adams, (aka Willis). Maybe Laura could present flowers to the

winner? Or perhaps just throw them. One thing's for sure about JAG. As Kermit reminds us, it isn't easy being

Green.
