Mōrena Nick. It would be great to see you there tomorrow.....although 30,000 people is quite a crowd. In medieval terms....it could be a 'hoard'! Yes, the excitement is building! I have been glued to the reports and videos of the hikoi and this really feels like a MOMENT. I too will be representing others...friends and family who can't get there for some reason...and also honouring those who have gone before...my parents and their families who were freedom fighters. The sight of the kuia and kaumatua.....resigned, resolved.....how many more times must they leave their homes to PEACEFULLY petition yet another colonialist government.
Well.....I said more than I thought I would. Kia kaha everyone.....next goal....the submissions!
Nick, I was so proud of the turn out in Rotorua on a wet day. An interesting discussion evolved about how to "ignore" Seymour on Gerard Otto's site. I think the Hikoi Leader has realised this could not have happened if Luxon had shown some Leadership, and he, Luxon will be targeted as the main person who caused this. He can not play a Pontius Pilot role and "wash his hands" So he is going to be challenged and his lack of EQ and political depth may be exposed. Seymour did not intend to unite the Left and sway the middle, but that appears to be happening, and his political "Wedge" for 26 may become the knife that cuts Luxon's strings. I will be with you in spirit as will many who would want to support. We will be there in spirit through you our friend and representative. Your friend in "Rotovagas" will be with you in spirit as well. Be safe, be well and be hopeful for better days.
Thanks for being there Nick I would too if I could. I was in Wellington this weekend and passed the Hikoi in Levin on my way back. There were lots of people by the roadside and on bridges flying flags in support all the way out from Porirua.
Always enjoy your writing and especially that you also bring personal and human anecdotes - a big supporter of your mahi and I will be joining shoulders with the Hikoi here in Welly tomorrow. Ngā mihi Sean.
I am glad you will be there and everyone there will stand for those who can't but wish they could be. But geez Nick, I am (almost) old enough to be your mother! - though I did have a child at 15 who was a forced adoption through Child Welfare. It's taken me all these years to say that out loud. We have a lot to come to terms with in Aotearoa, because it's not the paradise on earth some believe. Be there for me too Nick.
The joy and determination that the hikoi brings is a force to be reckoned with - to misquote Arlo Guthrie, “they’ll know that it’s a movement”. Enjoy tomorrow and I hope that 30000+ are there to deliver a message about who we are, Kia kaha!
I feel things are getting very interesting. Seymour is now slagging off Jenny Shipley, after having ago at Findlayson. Then this morning Ian Taylor is criticising Seymour. One wonders why the man who wants a "conversation" gets so angry with insults at people who offer an opinion to get the conversation going. It would be interesting to ask Seymour what his conversation style is, as all he does is charcter assassinate others and demand one without actually saying anything from his side. Perhaps an explanation of how the bottom feeders will benefit from "everyone being equal".
Wellington is my old stomping ground and I'm sorry I can't be there as part of the hikoi to say thank you to beloved this land, Aotearoa, for the 74 years I have lived here, arriving from the UK as a two year old. I feel enveloped by sadness that the progress made in te ao Maori and, ultimately the fabric of this country, has come to such a state of affairs. Arohanui to all who march to honour Te Tiriti on Waitangi. Go well Nick.
I will certainly be at Parliament at midday. May see you there Nick and others. I twisted my knee a bit recently so will not try the walk from Waitangi Park. Thought I'd go earlyish and visit the Te Tiriti itself across the road (from Parliament) at the National library.
Thanks for being there and fingers crossed for the biggest turnout! The Kirikiriroa hikoi was so humbling with so many supporters lining the streets - but the hikoi numbers were never reported with anywhere near the actual number of supporters. I've just the Petition to STOP the Treaty Principles Bill. It will be delivered to Parliament tomorrow and it means ALL of us who SUPPORT the Hikoi get the chance to be COUNTED regardless of any pitiful numbers the media might report ❤️🤍🖤
Thank you for the represent Nick, kia kaha e hoa! I suspect more than 30,000 will be there..... in fact I sincerely hope .... but there will be uncountable wairua and tupuna in attendance.
I can't be among the crowds at Parliament tomorrow, but those of you gathering to protest at this latest injustice have my full support. Kia Kaha.

Stand there for me too, Nick.
Also for me please Nick
And me. Thanks Nick. NGA mihi nui
Thanks Nick. Can't be there in person but will be there in spirit. I'm tangata tiriti and fully support the hikoi to protest this dreadful bill.
Come on, all Wellington’s OWLs (old white ‘ladies) let’s be part of the hikoi tomorrow. And all you old white blokes too. YES!!

We cannot make it to Wellington, so will be joining a hikoi in our town. Good luck to all of the protestors.
Kia kaha
