Before anyone mentions that I don't send a newsletter on a Monday, I could have held this back and sent it in the morning, but it made more sense to send it while the news was fresh. So tomorrow is the new Monday 😉 At least this week.

If this gets to 100 'likes' I'll open it up. 🙂

I'm still pissed, and shocked, that ANYONE is still supporting this abomination 😳

same same Kirsty, and thankfully we have lots of friends who feel the same.

I agree 100% , where the Fuck is their thinking at ???

What amazes me is how this government blew a billion or so over the property market, yet it's still languishing. That is some achievement! Could it be the negativity it continues to spruik. Kicking the guts out of the public service, undermining the Health system, creating the biggest pot hole in SH1 and main trunk line at the cook strait. Not to mention ripping NZ's standing as a progressive, transparent democratic nation....

Calling the Cook Strait a pothole is genius.

I put this on the tail end of yesterday's Korero. Looks like it was a bit late for that one but early for this. At least you get to read it twice😁

I sent this letter to the Herald while the news was on. It's hard to believe that a after a year in power this pathetic excuse for a PM still can't accept his team have created the mess this country is in. Well, actually he did it all on his own by crawling to the parties he said he wouldn't deal with, just to get into power. Even what hair he had couldn't stand to be close to a mind that works like his and fled before he became aware of it. His spine followed shortly thereafter. Letter below....

How much longer is Christopher Luxon going to blame the Labour government for all the woes our country is suffering? His latest statement "we inherited a hell of a mess" just makes my blood boil. Any administration worth it's salt would have got stuck in the day after their election win and solved many, if not all the perceived problems. What the Coalition did instead was repeal, cancel or adjust everything Labour introduced, just because they could. It's the stuff of the kindergarten sandpit as has no value or justification in a grown up world. Any "mess" caused now lies firmly at the feet of an incompetent bunch who can't even seem to agree with each other over a large number of issues. Time to quit blaming anyone but themselves has arrived. Just get on with the job you were elected to do, if that's not too difficult for you. If it is, hand the reins back to those who know what they're doing.

PS. Also found on tonight's news that Maiki made sure we're all aware that Labour hasn't come up shining at the moment. At least she couldn't, (or wouldn't because it hurts her,) tell us that 70% of New Zealanders aren't supporting the Coalition.

After a year in government without a volcanic eruption, a mass killing, or a global pandemic, this coalition has more than enough time to figure out that the track they have chosen is a dirt track into swampy quicksand. Are they blind or deaf or just plain stupid? All the above is an acceptable answer ...

In the coalition agreements:

- NZ First wants reference to the treaty/Te Tiriti removed from all legislation.

- Act wants to re-write the Treaty Principles and force a referendum.

- National/Luxon agreed to both.

So this coalition had a three-way conspiracy to completely gut Maori rights. I don't recall seeing this clearly expressed in the run-up to the election.

John Key giving Luxon 9 out of 10 is more evidence that Key who 2 weeks ago told us he would vote for Trump is deluded, morally bankrupt and full of BS. Now I am pretty certain that these traits are baked in for many of the MPs of the coalition.

Today I heard a political commentator say that he was happy with the coalition because he got a tax cut and interest rates were reducing. To me, his “what is in it for me” mindset characterises the 30%.

It takes alot of energy/engagement to keep abreast of the carnage the coalition has caused and I thank you Nick and other Substack contributors for keeping us updated. When we have the full picture of carnage we know that we are not better off, it’s is a no-brainer!

Key gives Luxon 9 out of 10 because Luxon does everything he's told. I have no doubt that Key is running the ship from the background but doesn't want to dirty his hands just yet. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him, at some point, ride in on his white charger to save the day. It's a thought and a day I dread. While that's not a no-brainer, it would suggest that 30% of the country's voters are.

Things are heading in the right direction as far as I'm concerned now. The quicker this CoC falls apart, the better! Maiki tried to make light of it, but I'm glad only 30% now think things are getting better! Every day the CoC is in power, things get worse from my point of view! PS, I also noticed that the pop vox seemed to have been selected to be much more positive in answers than the poll indicated.

Expand full comment

I noticed the vox pop didn't match the proportions in the poll. I thought Maiki was ok, I imagine she'll be getting some hate from the right over a couple of comments she made.

Expand full comment

Maiki most certainly did try to make light of it. It's very interesting the way she has toned her approach down. And also why on earth does Key get wheeled out time and again? Is it because Luxon needs the endorsing?

Luxon needs propping up more like. Wouldnt put it past Key either to step in if the idiot gets rolled.

Sheesh, just as well I don't give a rats bottom what John Key thinks about leaders............he thinks Trump is the man. Why do we even ask that dooshbag?

Totally support Chippy, but is this really the government the people voted for? Yes and no. They got in, then thought they had a voters mandate to do what they like and stuff as you say...they didn't come clean about in campaigning. I have a deep down and continual simmering anger with these schmuck......9, 8 and 8 on the Key leadership scale. What bollocks and poor judgement..........of charactere but political intent and ambition maybe 9, 8 and 8....but only by his scale. I deeply dislike the minions and 'leaders' in this coalition of a holes. I know many other people who do as well. Funny, Johnny the boy next door who is really a smiling assassin Key, anyone who ever makes the comment about encouragement making someone get a big head.............a red flag for me about the person who says that, and their put down of the recipient (Luxon). It always has me thinking....well you say that but guess who really is in danger of having the fat head............? Jkey in this story.

I have a view that these ‘centrists and COG’s reached the critical stage of needing to lambast someone, be it; Covid interrupted their income stream; the need to attend to the changes of planetary sustainability; Jacinda’s government far tooo inclusive, kind and cuddly; to those they believe were getting too much of a free ride at their expense. Being Incapable to control their tolerance that selfishness prevailed. They are still in this phase. Perhaps until some of these radical law changes affect them or collapse. We need the likes of Jacinda / Helen Clark or Jeffrey Palmer to start playing a similar role as Key is for Luxflakes. B Keys trying desperately to defend Lux. Preferably they commence an ongoing media interviewing campaign by the middle of next year. Your Kōrero can be quite cathartic Nick.

The only thing that gave NZFACT power was Luxon's desire to be PM. Neither could deal with Labour, imagine if Luxon had not folded to them either. It would have meant another election, but I reckon Winston is lining up to force one before handing over to Seymour* anyway.

* What a bizarre deal that was.
