Morena, I giggled at your previous post, of Shut up and Go away! I shouted some words, Up and Off! Starting with an F! Todays post, I giggled all the way through. The sharp wit! The removal of the remote! I did that on Sunday watching Q&A with Mr 8%. Nephew goes, why do you watch him Aunty? He strengthens my resolve nephew, to make a submission to Govt, for the first time ever. Now to Google how to write a submission. Katakata.

Yep - must admit I had a chuckle at the 'remove the remote' too as visions of Nick throwing it came into my head :)

Ngā mihi for taking a hit for the team Nick, I have to turn the tv off or change channels whenever that horrible human appears.... Glad he thinks he's going well, shame for the rest of us who have to live in the real world and put up with him and his divisive and destructive Govt (or our 3 headed taniwha!).

Aaaaargh! Thanks Nick. Breakfast TV is for puff pieces, advertorials and cooking demos. WHY do they do serious interviews on it? If they are going to, WHY not get proper journalists to do it? I know hardly anyone watches the evening news any more, so the skewering live interviews don't happen like they used to. Remember the good old days when you couldn't tell the interviewers political views and politicians of all parties would get a good going over? You know - the fourth estate's actual job.

Agree Roger. Thank goodness only a little over 200,000 people (5+) watch this drivel.

Yes yes yes!!

They’ve been muzzled by management because TVNZ is not a public broadcaster but a state-owned, commercially-funded broadcaster, depending for its existence on big-business funding. I have no doubt the editorial direction is clear; support the people who line our pockets. To be fair, Jenny May is a presenter not a journalist so she’s not trained in hard interviewing but Daniel is a former foreign correspondent and should know better. One can only assume he has a family to feed. Sorry you have to watch this drivel Nick. I stopped long ago and rely on people like you to call the buggers out for their shameless sychophancy.

Can you send a copy of this to TVNZ? and to Daniel. He needs to know the effect his stupidity could have on the nation. It makes me furious to think of Luxon performing like a monkey like this. So sad for our country. Of all our PMs he is the absolute worse and running the country against NZ values. A very good article written by Matthew Hooten last week on how bad Luxon is.

Oh please save us from this mendacious, twaddle spouting PM who uses phrases like constructively dissatisfied. Agree that Breakfast the news and seven sharp are nothing more than Govt propaganda nowadays while the only constructive views come from posts like yours Nick and all those independent sources out there. Such a pity many more people weren’t reading and listening to these. It’s way past time a balance was restored. Coincidentally where do they lock up John Campbell?

Well said Mac. "Constructively dissatisfied" for goodness sake - what claptrap. Shaking my head - again.

Shades of The Glass Onion alright. Ugh

😁I don't watch this show, but YouTube have occasional clips from various "news" & other programmes, so I saw John Campbell with Jenny May & Fauono Ken Laban talking about TJ Perenara's magnificent lead in to the AB's haka 👍💪 He is also doing longer pieces that I get on streaming (I seldom watch TV in real time any more 🤷)

I was thinking that very thing myself about John Campbell. Perhaps Lily Livered Luxo gets to choose who he has a chat to, rather than having to suffer being questioned about issues he has no idea of or answers to.

I'm sure he does.

What about " boiling the ocean"? and "I'm happy with the big rocks"? What the hell is he burbling on about? He's been out of the corporate world for how many years and yet he is incapable of dropping the lingo and speaking plain English to all these people he speaks to constantly "up and down the country." A bear of very little brain I think.

That interview, together with all the ‘report cards’ from sycophantic press, made the world seem to be in an unrecoverable mess. But I WAS cheered last night by Gerard Otto’s one-year-on score card on various Ministers, if you haven’t seen it please go searching

I committ, from this moment on, to never watch Breakfast TV again.

What a pathetic show of journalism, !

Sooo sad!

We should all watch it, but we need to write to RNZ Bkfst producers and complain.

Nick I do appreciate that you remorselessly tell it like it is: I simply would not watch Breakfast- you've reinforced that with the awful verbatim of today: I too am hugely incensed that Daniel allows himself to be prostituted to the establishment, political & media. Surely the ratings will tank them soon!!

I NEVER watch Breakfast TV and never will! So sorry for Daniel - what a terrible situation to be in..

Ummm errr - nope, for once words fail me ... and you've just confirmed the wisdom of my habit of never watching breakfast TV, I admire your inner strength to do so Nick!

Have finally caught up with it. It was hopeless. No questions about why National closed the downtown cop shop in the first place, no questions about the non sworn police who are being laid off and who will staff it and answer the phone, no questions about how police resources are being spread thin with the ridiculous gang insignia arrests, no questions about the suggestion from the new Police Commissioner that he would support a convo about police being armed. And so on....

Having watched that debacle of an interview myself, you hit the nail on the head Nick. The worst interview I have ever seen from Daniel. Meanwhile, the service station across the road from me in Hamilton, got ram raided last night, causing extensive damage. So much for Luxon's reduction in crime. On a positive note, I sent my submission last night against the Treaty Principles Bill.

Beautifully written, and despite the grim subject matter, amusing. I owe you big time for allowing me to learn what went on without the excruciating need for viewing.

Are we really entering an era of ordinary people, living and working "in fear"? Fear of losing jobs, fear of losing homes, fear of bare pantries, fear of dying through lack of Health care, fear of being cloned into un- creativity, fear of being bullied, ridiculed or sworn at because we dare to be who we are? It's WRONG.

Expand full comment

It is very wrong and the government should be ashamed of themselves, oh wait, you need to have some intelligent self awareness and a concern for the people for that.
