Hi Nick, you missed one cancellation and that is the upgraded Cook Strait ferries. This is nothing but a vacuous shortsighted decision that will set NZ back for the next 30 years or more. I don’t know why all the producers and importers that ship goods between the islands are not up in arms….. but I guess they’re all National supporters and think, “we’re in safe hands……” yeah right
You know this surprised me as well. I feel the reaction has been quite muted since the first announcement - has there just been too many awful things happen?
The gun lady from ACT wants to reintroduce semi automatic weapons and said this : "Gun ownership is a normal way of life. Now, everyone thinks that it's used just as a weapon, rather than as a sporting tool or a way to put food on the table," I mean whaaaat?
Not only do most Kiwis have no need for a gun, most Kiwis I know are simply not used to seeing guns in public. As a semi-recent transplant from the good ol' USA where semi-automatic weapons are a common sight at most marches and protests, I beg of you all not to let them become common sights here. I didn't realise how acclimated I had become to the sight of guns until a few years ago when there was an AOS callout and as an officer was redirecting traffic he stopped to pet my dog in the car, and I was chatting with him regarding the situation. My neighbours were aghast that I could stand so close to a massive gun and not flinch. I love that they were aghast. I hate that I was so impervious.
I'm not religious in any way but in the words of the evangelistic nutjobs & cult leaders.... Preach it my son!!
Every day the likes of Luxflakes & his merry manfriends test the efficacy of my blood pressure meds & thanks to the removal of the script subsidies hit my wallet again too.
You express my feelings of rage & general hopelessness so well Nick & thankyou Darren you help balance those emotions with bloody fantastic & funny lyrics & song. Well done guys!
I felt so embarrassed about our new government that I wanted to crawl under a rock. Then I realised that's like escaping a fire by running back into the burning house.
Magnificent work Nick, your summary is spot on - and then summed up nicely by Darren.
Another thought on what makes Christopher tick. Like Trump he has obscene wealth but still grabs any extra dollars he can - think EV subsidies for the (whanau) fleet, and now the $50000+ rort on his Wellington accommodation. I think he may need help more than he needs a knighthood.
Lying Luxon. Oh so fitting. I’ll play that on my next wine and cheese evening with my friends and whanau. Love it. Thanks Nick. Reaffirmed how and what I believe.
Thank you again for setting out clearly what it is this feeble pretend govt is doing to Aotearoa, under urgency, no less. Thanks also to Darren, great track and very catchy. I will play this to myself and friends whenever I'm a bit down.
A great post Nick that sums up accurately how we have got to where we are now in such a short time. Luxton’s incompetence and inability is summed up by him playing cricket at a school rather than facing questioning in Parliament. Quite clearly just a puppet for the rich side of town and now the Atlas Network and the cookers.
Thank you Nick. That's a great summary. Darren Watson is brilliant bu the clip you included of Nanaia, Kelvin and Jacinda brought tears to my eyes . Tears for what we have lost in values, humanity and human warmth.
Also, regarding Darren Watson's new single, David Seymour deserves a shrug for his comic impersonation of the standard bearers of heroic individualism, and Ayn Rand should get some recognition for an ideology that, like a bad smell, continues to hang in the air much longer than it's strength should warrant.
Thanks again to all those who replied and took part in the discussion yesterday. Really appreciate being able to share those other voices 🙂

Will she be happy when we get our first school shooting, just like the good ol' USA? 99% of Kiwis have absolutely no need to have a gun.

A beacon of honesty in the wilderness that this coalition of fools are creating. Thank you Nick.

Unfortunately too many of our confreres believe these lies.

Yes Nick! You’ve told us the shocking truth! Trust this will open the eyes of the gullible, and the lazy non-thinking voters amongst us!

Yes, such a lovely clip. I hadn't seen it before and it did bring such a feeling of loss for what we had.
One of your best Nick
