Shit the 31st of May, Im of mixed emotions about wee mental davey as co-pilot, intense rage or a cold sweat. I do have a wild fantasy that drunkle winnie will spit the dummy and initiate a snap election.

Patricia Bremner's avatar

Further to that John, Winnie's vote numbers could improve as a thank you, in this strange mixed up world we now inhabit.

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

You call it "a wild fantasy" John...I would call it 'a faint hope born of desperation'...but it is not going to happen, eh, because Uncle Tom Winnie-the-Pooh knows where the honey jar is.....

Bryan Dods's avatar

Well, silly me! When I heard Seymour talking about "open arms" I thought he was referring to ACT's gun policy.

brenda's avatar

oh wow..listening to that coldplay song triggered another river of tears for me..i used to listen to them with my sadly late beautiful son and it all came flooding back..the tears for his loss mingle with the tears of despair that i feel for our beautiful country with mr 8% as its deputy...why does that despicable excuse for a human even have to say that maori have nothing to fear from him or his racist party..screams an orange rapist projection to me..i reckon it would be the best thing that old pig winfag peters could ever do in his rage that hes had to pass the reins and baubles of power to the snivelling deputy dawg would be to pick a scrap with him and initiate a snap election.. maybe cluxon might locate his gonads and rush back from wherever hes trying to shake someones hand and referee and dare i say it assume the role for which hes paid for??dream on brenda..i"d love to have a wet towel and flick it madly in 8% 's direction.. a tea towel is much more effective for causing maximum pain so that would be my go to towel today and everyday that that twat is in the number 2 spot...which he definitely... is a great steaming stinking pile of number twos

Patricia Bremner's avatar

Brenda, I have two friends who lost children, and they also have pieces of music that stir memories. It is the saddest loss, I believe. One where the pain stays raw. Arohanui. Trish.

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

So sad that you lost your beautiful son. Unimaginable. And I fully agree with your assessment of Seymour.

Janine McVeagh's avatar

The very fact that he can't (or won't) see that his agenda is hugely damaging to tangata whenua, and, by extension to our whole society tells me he is extremely dangerous. This ugly new Regulatory Standards bill MUST be resisted as hard as we can.

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

Worst Bill so far I think ...

Keith Simes's avatar

Let’s shoot the sheriff AND the deputy, figuratively speaking/singing of course…

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

Well, figuratively speaking, why not include the PM? Ineffectiveness is just as damaging as active sabotage, although I think he's complicit in that as well.

Heather Thompson's avatar

I agree. I think Luxon is an Atlas man who hides behind Seymour.

Thanks for the Towel Day reminder!

One of your best Nick. My heart drops at the real menace that Seymour embodies now that he’s got the DPM gig. He seems incapable of recognising the real damage his policies do to the most vulnerable in our community. God only knows what the next 18mths hold with our spineless leader. I dread it but will protest to the end. Hold onto the anger, rage against the machine, all the cliches apply!

Ange Boland's avatar

I don’t think he’s incapable. I think he just doesn’t care.

Heather Thompson's avatar

Luxon is self centred and all about his bucket list of meeting famous folk. However he is also inarticulate and not well informed.

kerin greville's avatar

Filled with dread at the thought of Seymour’s ascension to Deputy PM - it’s bad enough that he’s in government and already wielding so much power and influence.

I genuinely believe he has some sort of personality disorder which includes a cruel and callous lack of empathy coupled with immense arrogance and misguided self-belief.

Hoping everyone has already watched Mihi Forbes’ excellent documentary - if not it’s here

https://youtu.be/QLOjiiC3P1Y

…and if you can’t stomach the whole 39 minutes skip to almost 32 mins through where a former ACT candidate quotes Seymour talking about the prospect of civil war.

It’s truly alarming.

Nick Rockel's avatar

Thanks for sharing that, Mihi Forbes is an outstanding journalist.

kerin greville's avatar

100% agree Nick. One of the few journalists who actually challenges Seymour and also exposes his nasty, misogynist underbelly.

Diana Coleman's avatar

I did manage to watch the whole documentary and it was chilling. This guy is very dangerous and our PM needs to be staying in the country for the remainder of this term and do what he is employed by us to do. I’m not holding my breath on that one though.

Miramartian's avatar

💯 Excuse me while I watch it.

Mark Dixon's avatar

I think your cruel and callous is 100% correct. Thanks for the Mihi clip.

Jan Kearvell's avatar

I’m reminded of the advice I gave my girls about their boyfriends. Focus not so much on what he says, more on what he does.

Ann Chapman's avatar

It’s the day Winston becomes irrelevant and he won’t like that.

Miramartian's avatar

Two giant ego disrupters in the COC going head to head for the spotlight. Imagine that.

Jill Proudfoot's avatar

Oh, I'm sure he'll find ways to draw attention!

Darien Fenton's avatar

Yep here it comes. I am losing confidence in our MMP system. It was never meant to be that two tiny minority parties would have so much power and a little jumped up Rimmer and grumpy old fart could do so much damage. Or at least that's not what I thought we were getting. It is all out of proportion. I guess it comes down to a weak PM determined to hold the title no matter what. PS : I know we are not supposed to comment on womens' dress, but I hope Nicola takes her $1100 Budget dress to Dress for Less or the Op Shop so less wealthy women can have a go at getting a huge paying job like hers. Believe me, she will only wear it a couple of times.

Nick Rockel's avatar

Perhaps she could gift it to Te Papa for a future exhibit on the failings of trickle-down theory?

Darien Fenton's avatar

Wonder where Ruth Richardson's is?

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Brilliant you guys...I nearly choked with laughter on my evening glass of red wine...

Alma Rae's avatar

Wherever it is, it’s tiny

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Spot on Darien, that's where my brain has gone with regards to MMP over the last few weeks as well...but unlike you I'm beginning to suspect that Luxon is actually a very sly dog...

Rob C's avatar

Surely he’s more Arnold Rimmer in looks and character.

Nick Rockel's avatar

You're right, of course. He is the spitting image of Rimmer. I should have said "associated with Red Dwarf," but I was too busy thinking about robots.

Nick Rockel's avatar

I've tidied it up a bit online, so it makes more sense, sorry about that, folks.

Patricia Bremner's avatar

Make sure to watch Maharangi Forbes documentary on David Seymour. It is on You Tube.

He is arrogant ( jacinda was correct) dismissive towards submissions and protesters. He is bringing Atlas thinking to Aotearoa. My wish is he goes back to Canada. They are welcome, but I gather his thinking is now seen as an anathema to Canadian Politics, just as it is here.

Diana Coleman's avatar

I don’t think Canada would want him, he shows many of the narcissistic traits that Trump has, but his brain is sharper.

Kim Shaw-Williams's avatar

Sorry, Patricia and Diana, speaking as a true Canadian who has been living in Aotearoa since 1965, I can say without a doubt that Canada has always been a temporary refuge for American crazies...See-Less is an American wanna-be sycophant, NOT a Canadian...and I do not think he is sharper than Trump...Trump is a very very sly dog, a truly gifted grifter...

Patricia Bremner's avatar

I don't doubt that Was being farcical. xx

Heather Thompson's avatar

Just a thought. When someone is panicking then 'don't panic' can be a difficult instruction to follow. I have come to 'panic slowlly'. It gives time to engage the thinking strategic part of the brain.

Ps: I have my towel ready.

Nick Rockel's avatar

"Panic slowly" sounds good.

Melanie Nelson's avatar

I like that! Mindful panicking 🤣

Alison Comrie's avatar

OMG! Nick, you just made me bring up my breakfast! Deputy PM, oh no. Does this mean we will seeing more of his horrible face? Reminding us all that he believes not in society, culture and humanity but reduces us all to an economic unit. I am shuddering at what has become of NZ.

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

I imagined at first that today could perhaps be one for throwing in the towel. Reading a little further brought me to Sci-fi world, a much better place to be. Reading a bit further, I came across the sad tidings of little joy that DS, (which in case you’re not aware, is also Australian for deadshit, very apt indeed in this case), will become the “nation’s number two”. He’s had a lot of practice at being an irritating number two lately, (but I’m sure there was no unkind implication meant in this Korero by calling him so,was there?)

Sci-fi and number two together reminded me of Donovan’s song “ The intergalactic laxative”. I think a good dose of that if things in number two life go off track a bit would work wonders for us all. If any of you haven’t heard it, may I suggest you do?🙂

The link is here. I hadn’t heard this before, it made me chuckle.

Heather Thompson's avatar

Could go full scatological with number2. Little sh!t!

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

That sounds very painful Heather! Is it even legal? Who cares, go for it! 😡

Miramartian's avatar

Jeremy-

Did NZH fail to print your latest letter or did I miss it?

Jeremy Coleman's avatar

Hi Miramartian🙂

So far they’ve failed to print it. I was hoping it might be there today, but only the serial whiners having their usual gripes about TPM and Labour. It can take a few days to get printed but I’m still not holding my breath.

Many thanks to all of you who did like it and those who replied as well. It’s very much appreciated, (and quite a surprise!)👍🙂🙂
