I knew I’d heard of them somewhere... and then remembered when reading about them suing Glassdoor ( a David Farrier article). Thanks for the bringing this all to light, it’s good to know & scary how these bullies operate!

Thanks for mentioning the David Farrier article, I only recently became a WebWorm subscriber so I've got lots to catch up on. I'll check it out.

You have lots of great reading ahead of you then Nick. David's articles are brilliant as are his fellow SS contributors.

These mega-donors don't need to expect anything specific from a Nat/Act govt. They just get an environment where it's overall easier to make and to retain larger sums of money.

Excellent comment, and so true!

Great intelligent analysis Nick. It's so good to have these overviews out in the public square. We know these greedy, exploitative entitled types are out there doing "business" but most of us have no further information about their impacts. His sister and Ali Williams also seem to have a lot to answer for but the uber-rich protect their own. I'm also dismayed that comparatively young people can be so indiscriminately destructive about our shared environment let alone the ethics of human exploitation in China etc. Ugh

This is excellent Nick. You and I have friends in the unrelated Rotorua Mowbray family. What a contrast. They would not buy cheap and nasty plastic for their young great grandchildren. Nick Mowbray sounds like a mate for the polluting airline past CEO. Nact probably will give him the social housing brief, in spite of knowing plastic nanno particles are dangerous... but hey AI and "helping the poor" right? Green makes them gag? I truly hope so... Money and greed seem to rule their world.

No, quite a contrast. I remember playing at their house as a kid, many board games, we spent a lot of time playing marbles, we'd go hunting for tadpoles at the reserve down the road, push each round the house on a home-made go-kart, or ride bikes. Most of all I remember sports, Bob teaching us the importance of keeping the bat straight playing cricket, and he coached our football team for a while.

I'm not sure if it's a reflection of my (maturing?) age or my fond memories of playing with the original Mattel boardgames, Grandpop's wooden cotton reel tractors he made us or the trolleys, go carts & stilts we made but thesedays I actively avoid the plastic crap when looking for gifts for the grandies.

If it can't be made, read, recycled/reused or worn then it stays on the shelf.

Wouldn't it be great if people boycotted Zuru's planet destroying plastic 'toys' , not to mention the working condtions of the staff (slaves?) and put the prick out of business.

But then dreams are indeed free... like the ride he'd get if the Nacts got in to 'thank him' for all those donations.

Raping and pillaging on an international scale. Selfish and sad. Can we help to 'save the world ' by refusing to buy this plastic rubbish? We can only do our part. Thanks for that beautiful music Nick.

Clearly the fellow believes NAct are a philanthropic investment. It might see him appointed to a future economic think tank or even the airNZ board

WTAF

Mowbray is buying a (never to be realised) future govt contract for his company to produce AI constructed houses in NZ, made from plastic extrusion products his other company provides.

I only started looking at Twitter this year, and if you inadvertently stumble on to a right-wing nasty...there's so much filth, I'm not even sure I can handle it - but it makes me so concerned for what it must be like to be these people ,with only these abhorrent views to form your opinions on, that is- what if they genuinely think most people think this way, and the only option is to remove a government trying to look out for everyone?

Thank you Nick for shining a light on this younger Mowbary, and his large donations to the NACT parties, as well as his plastic junk business. Imagine how many balloons he is responsible for now being in our waterways, and oceans.
