Remember 2020? Covid? Leadership? A lot of thanks we gave, for that leadership. Don't expect anything but muddle and disaster from the current lot.

Diane Shaw's avatar

Totally!! - Luxon and Willis wouldnt recognise leadership if they tripped over it. A pair of true incompetents.

Ben Thomas in this mornings Press claims that Luxon is doing a great job. Has hit a good tone, speaking clearly and knowledgeably and is in good form. In fact hearing him speak was like seeing swans return to the canals of Venice in 2020. What!!! I surely must have blinked.

Wow Ben wasn’t at the recent embarrassing presser then. Don’t be like Ben!

Yeah one of my growing concerns has been the lack of attention on Israel with so much going to the war crime buffoons Trump and Hesgeth. Israel appear to have orchestrated everything along with the ridiculous Lindsey Graham and are now gleefully destroying everything around them while media focusses on US.

Last night's Colbert had a good bit about Hegseth:

Yeah Colbert, Kimmel and Meyers all doing insightful analyses, as are many MSNow contributors and Mehdi Hassan at Zeteo. But when 60% are getting their fix from Fox News and increasingly CBS, CNN etc bending the knee its not getting the cut through and outrage it deserves

He's some kind of religious nut job like most of them in that regime.

I reckon Nicola is preparing for an austerity budget in May and will use this as an excuse. ; From the Post : Finance Minister Nicola Willis says the Government may have to rewrite parts of the May Budget as war in Iran drives up oil prices and raises the prospect of fuel shortages in New Zealand... “We can't deliver a Budget at the end of May that was designed for the conditions we were experiencing in January". I suspect that's part of why we are getting such hysteria from the CoC about spending during COVID and all the bs that goes with that. Labour chose stimulus during COVID to protect jobs and health ; Nicola will choose the opposite. So batten down your bills.

It's somewhat amazing to watch the former opposition, for which everything was so simple, wilt when presented with the reality of being in power. A deodorant salesman can't admit it just masks the stink for a while...

Towards the end of the article by Luke Malpass interviewing Nicola Willis, he quotes her as saying 'I'd put to you that NZ is still paying the price for the overspending that happened during Covid. That price is both how long it's taken to unwind our cost of living crisis. It's also in the sheer magnitude of debt that we're having to repay.' I thought shades of Christopher Luxon-"I 'd put to you." Still the misinformation and spin put on the Royal Commission Covid Report. How much debt has Nicola Willis created by borrowing to pay landlords? Nicola has borrowed more in two years than Labour did in six years. I wish this fact would cut through, but sadly it doesn't.

Unfortunately for all of us it's only going to get worse the longer the orange toddler seems to think that it's great to kill Iranian people. This year is fast becoming a shit show for the whole world thanks to that twat.

Surely it can’t be too long before Mr Jones remembers all those whales swimming around in our oceans, brimming with oil, we’ve been saving for a rainy day. Perfect: AI proof harpooning jobs for young people. Cheap source of meat. Plenty of oil for our lamps and sewing machines.

On second thoughts, nobody tell him.

Iranian leaders ‘deranged scumbags’. What a laugh. Takes one to know one. A very dumb pot of lies call the kettle black.

The pic of our humble leader and Trump says it all.

The annual Kite Festival is on this weekend at Ōtaki beach. Worth a visit if you need some cheering up. And it's free.

Might need a bit more of a breeze today for the kites! Where is it when needed?!

Now I've got the Laverne and Shirley theme tune in my head. 😂 That would be about the same period as car-less days:

I remember car less days. A Tuesday or Wednesday was mine. In Central Hawkes Bay. Used my bike or feet a lot in those days. Can't imagine it will be looked upon fondly now ! Too many Whackers . . . . .

One can dream. But if only the yanks would, shut up, stay home and stop funding rogue states (israel). It's been going on since Korea, every time they leave home, the world suffers.

Then there is the astonishing corruption and sheer stupidity coming from the drones in our beehive.

Head in hands stuff.

I really hope the next Labour govt focus on the small wind energy option. Saw lots of these in Netherlands and Belgium a couple of years ago.... Small wind power wind mills on farms and in small communities that powered the whole area independent of any main grid. Genius.

Have I got it right? Haven’t we been importing more big vehicles? Here in Northland it seems we have lots of Ford Rangers, Isuzu trucks and other big utes in the supermarket car parks.

So reassuring that the coalition has been preparing for a future by not assessing the risks of “taking us back” policies.

John Farrell's avatar

They'll be suffering when the fuel prices hit. My car is a 1300cc Toyota...

John Walker's avatar

Mine is a 12,000cc truck, and I bring your groceries

Diana Coleman's avatar

We have ridiculous numbers of these big utes and four wheel drives in Auckland and the greater proportion would not be trades vehicles either. Of course we have John Key’s legacy of massive double trailer trucks everywhere too.

Pauline Arnold's avatar

I'm looking at my horse & wondering how she'd feel pulling a cart. 😂🤣😂

Windfall tax the petrol companies, it's literal highway robbery.

As for the coalition and their 1980's thinking around fossil fuels, they will pay the price at the ballot box, people will see through the archaic thinking.

So I know it goes against NACT policy but surely war profiteering is happening in petrol prices and should be taxed aggressively.
