I’m so depressed about Mike Hoskings. It’s not journalism. He spends his days undermining everyday Kiwis and our country. Also quite prepared to undermine public health responses and weather warnings too. And yet he’s the best we’ve got!? Who the heck were the judges?

Yep- that's my question. Who the heck were the judges? It is sickening that a creep like Hoskingcan beat Suzie Ferguson. It is sickeningthat his nastiness, and bias are being supported.

Who was the unhappy reporter on TV3 this morning; upset because Mayor Brown did not invite his organisation to attend the obviously news-worthy Council budget meeting? The reporter was totally credible until he decided to liken the Mayor's actions to a previous PM who refused to be interviewed on the Mike Hosking Breakfast Show some years back. Chalk and cheese surely, or was the young man simply striving for balanced reporting

Brilliant review Nick. Unbelievable choice - Hosking surely could not have been a public majority vote. Right wing influencers?

I watched as much as I could of Brown's speech , he looks old and unwell, with any luck he won't make the full 3 years (if that is too harsh I will happily apologise) , I have yet to find someone who , A Admits voting for him and B likes what he is doing....

The ones I know who voted for him aren’t impressed now

Re your comment about certain RNZ staff who would be better suited to ZB. Let’s add Georgina Campbell (who I think is with stuff) on a big rant courtesy of Jesse on RNZ. She is “outraged “ with the government over the prescription charges. He gave her plenty of time but I zoned out. It’s both discouraging and upsetting that this all-media attitude is prevailing.

Great column as per, Nick.

Why is she outraged over prescription charges being removed.? What is her reasoning?

Ha ha! Some of your best work there, Nick. Absolutely outstanding turn of phrase.

Maybe he could smugly retire now, never to be heard again. I wish.

It's ridiculous...and embarrassing.

I agree the audience is the poorly-educated & perennial moaners.

Earlier this week, my partner said he just heard something on Newstalk ZB (he’s in the latter category)…I immediately figured it will just be something anti-Labour, and sure enough- a gigantic mountain made out of a daft NZ Herald headline.

A cursory skim of the article set things to rights, but a) do any of them check the source, b) can they read well enough to find the discrepancy and c) what percentage of the population even understand statistics at all?

The problem is – some dufus said it on Newstalk ZB (which apparently has a lot more listeners than I would have deemed possible), and then they went spouting off about it and before you know it- it is a “fact” discussed with absolute certainty.

It hurts my brain.
