I'm leaving a few newsletters open in the hope of reaching a wider audience. To be honest I thought this was one that might end up getting shared, and it's more effective to do so upfront, even if it's less likely to result in someone opting for a paid sub.

The loose plan is then to have a Christmas special in the first half of December and then go more fully paid next year. I'm really looking forward to cutting back on the selling and just writing, but needs must for now - so thanks for bearing with me.

No newsletter tomorrow, being Monday. I'm off with my lovely Fi to see one of my heroes - Stephen Fry, maybe some of you are going? Have a lovely day and I'll be back on Tuesday. Ngā mihi, Nick.

It is difficult to know with this taniwha which of their horrific actions is designed as a distraction. And I'm not sure the effort to identify a single thing is relevant right now. There is however a clear agenda and direction of travel and clearly a deliberate strategy of speed to confuse and divide resistance. I do believe that dismantling Te Tiriti is fundamental. Te Tiriti underpins so much legislation now that protects the environment and hence the people of NZ. NZs clean green international marketing also depends alot on the uniqueness Te Tiriti gives the country from a marketing perspective. Critically it is Te Tiriti obligations that can block the exploitation projects the Fast Track legislation is greenlighting. Trump's election will embolden this morally bankrupt govt with their venal agenda. We must fight together. Support each other. Wherever and whenever we can. Luxon is playing his part exactly as planned. He knows exactly what he is doing and why. Seymour is easier to identify as an evil little weasel so they needed another 'acceptable' face like Key. Luxon is not as quick witted as Key but he is just as slimy and very much on board with the agenda. It is a corporate global agenda toward feudal capitalism. We in NZ are just next on the production line. The well being of the people of any given country are no longer of any relevance. If they ever were.

👍💯 Perfectly put 👏 Lux-flakes et al are going for "deniability" by letting Seymour front the legislation, but weakening it is crucial to all the other dastardly plans they have against our will for OUR country, present & future 🤬

Like others, I believe the coalition is distracting us so they can privatize public services like health, education, prisons etc. and sell off assets such as the ferries, rail, renewable energy sources, forestry, farmland, housing. NZ is not only "open for business" its: For sale

The local part of the Atlas agenda is putting ordinary folks’ money in the pockets of the rich and powerful - not just directly with sell-offs etc but also deals like early childhood funding going to the Wright family etc. Health has already started with contracts to private radiology clinics

Thanks Nick.

The slow wheel of history turning.

We're on a long match to totalitarianism, but jonkey is wrong, it is stoppable and everyone should get behind the hikoi.

I am old white haired and a 5th generation new comer who values the Treaty.

We assemble to show support for the Hikoi even if we can't march. Kia Kaha Ake Ake Ake Aue!!

Seymour is a dangerous snake imo

Im annoyed that when jonkey said a trump win would be good for the economy, Sam Hayes didn't ask, for who's economy.

Taku whakaaro iti. US elections. Its NOT over until the fat lady sings.

Hikoi, Seymours puppet masters, 'E tama, That treaty stands in OUR way. Bash that 'Treaty' wall down!

Ko Tatou! Toitu Te Tiriti! Kotahitanga tatou! United we stand.

Luxon, and Key. Rubbing their hands together with glee. Our little country is ripe for the pickings!

2023! Scrap three waters.

2024. Voices coming through local communities, "Well now, that was a big bloody mistake.'

Jacinda. I didn't vote for her party, however, as I watched her journey, I saw a caring person, who had compassion, and wanted the best for people. Equality and equity had its place of importance.

She had vision to see beyond the immediate landscape. I have a deep admiration for Jacinda.

Tena koe Lorna. You may be interested in checking out this piece, of Roland Martins. He interviews Jane Elliot. She is now 90 years old and is still going strong. Her responses to the interview are Hard hitting, and on point! She has upset the establishment, who have had her banned from educational institutions because of her opinions. She makes a whole lot of sense. Brilliant woman!

Well said, Nick. I can hardly put a sentence together at the moment about Trump, and of course our awful Coalition of... well... So thank you for what you write.

We're being distracted from their ultimate aim to privatise as much as they can..... will all be revealed second half of 25.

The Hīkoi will be passing through my town (Kerikeri) at some point tomorrow. I havent been able to find what time that will be. Anyone know? We would love to be on the side of the highway with our signs cheering them on.

Plenty for the cocs to be distracting us from. But I think Health, Roads and Water are at the top of the list. Would like to see Luxons deal sheet. When will that get leaked?

I've read on Kerikeri Chronicles that they will be at Waipapa around 11am

For all still despairing today about Trump, or searching for answers or blame, Jon Stewart's podcast is excellent and intelligent. This didn't just happen this week. US is a country of 32 million people with huge differences. It has a deep history formed on wars against the king, slavery, injustice, and a democracy that has fractured more than once as self interest and greed forgets the original mission. The division of State / Senate Reps show it what a flawed system it is and how underrepresented some of the cities are as the vid from Jon Stewart points out. Yes, I will join full throatily with the Te Trititi protests, but you are right Nick. There is so much else going on, not least the burning of our planet. I try to remember the good people. I try to remember all of the people I know who clean, cook and care for others working on shit wages, here - and in the US, who have lost their chance for a decent federal minimum wage with Trump. Sometimes we get lost in the rush to blame. Don't mourn organise! And thank you for all that you do.

I was expecting QandA to be another boring analysis but I actually found the interviews very interesting. It must have been a challenge to achieve this after the awful recovery from election win. Worth watching, I thought. Thanks for your korero, Nick, right on!

I hope I can get my shizzle together to support the hikoi as they come thru Whangarei. A good read for questioning Kiwi. In the end, I hated the way JonKey played on his good boy smiling next door do no evil persona.......when in reality he was stabbing us in the back. I still wonder why his part in the crash of 2008, the whole american under writer mortgage Fanny Mae thing......isn't shouted from the mountain tops........while he was working in banking, Merrill Lynch............???? Anyways thank you Nick, as always.

Any phrase with Luxon and Leader close to each other is an oxymoron. He is a salesman, not a leader.

Expand full comment

A deodorant salesman can't admit it just masks the stink for a while...

Expand full comment

Hi, you attribute words to Lux that seem so out of character with the persona? I can't imagine Lux saying anything like that? He just does not think that way, he seems far removed from any understanding of people in any context, seems it is completely beyond his thought process - some sort of spectrum perhaps?

His own spectrum!

Oh my father loved Mario Lanza I think mainly because they were both alcoholics😂🤣😂

No, it would be because he had a voice which supremely touched those zones of musical perfection - in his latter recordings, for me he just eclypsed Pavarotti. Hehe.

Good thought-provoking questions Nick.

Firstly, I don't believe Luxton when he has said, several times, that National will not vote for The Treaty bill. They will.

Secondly, National needs the Treaty of Waitangi gone so they can let NZ be pillarized by international buyers of Health, Land etc. so both issues, The Treaty & privatize NZ, go together. There are other things that are a distraction though, like the USA election!
