Had a flashback to John Key and Bill English finding the $$$ to pay for their unfunded tax cuts - wasn't it an increase to GST, stop feeding the superannuation fund for 9 years and cutting Kiwisaver benefits? Worked last time, and Willis was Key's advisor ... Hmmm.
Thanks Nick. I’ve just come from the Labour Party rally in Wellington. The crowd was energised, upbeat and positive - very encouraging. And I was lucky enough to sit next to the very entertaining Marian Hobbs who we have to thank for giving us Grant Robertson.
Your song choice is so appropriate Nick. Willis and the funding, Simple Simeon and road speeds, Mitchell and ram raids, Bishop and Luxton every time they open their mouths. That is just today so just wait until the Richardson v2 kicks in and all their promises turn to dust (for want of a nicer word).
No reason to apologise for the truth Nick, it's pretty hard to find these days and apparently all we need to rely on is the vibe, as defined by National
Have no fear. The CEOs will be told to make the cuts. Hopefully they do not throw their hands up and resign as NAct hope. Hopefully they will simply rule a line under every employee on $50k pa or more and say 'go now.' The CEO will then get a bonus and resign - in the nick of time and and head for greener pastures laughing all the way
Another great read Nick. I watched Q&A this morning, not an easy watch with the screeching, arm waving and meaningless bits of paper being tossed around. The key policy of selling and imposing taxes on high end houses to foreigners (not Chinese because of a trade agreement around tax) is simply appalling. I was amused to see comments on NW's page about how calm she was! Really? And I was not allowed to make a comment that included "screeching". I must learn to work the system a bit better!
Loved the music today, very appropriate. I hope someone more au fait with the system posts it on her page..
Brilliant, accurate commentary of Q+A for those who missed it this morning. While Grant answered the question on why the adverse polling well, it would be tempting to point the finger back at media and opposition for their obvious suppression of truth and spreading misinformation conjecture.
So bloody true Nick! Austerity the mother of all calamities. It brings up the eternal question of why are people so unkind and uncaring? You cannot predict the future but you can be pretty damn close to what will happen under National and it's not good. We should keep pushing the statistic that Marama Davidson said in the debate the other night 311 people have 85 billion dollars between them. Where does that leave the rest of us? The future looks very bleak indeed if we have a NAct government.
Luxon and Willis are using the same strategy. i.e. talk over the top of your opponent so that you dominate, and they eventually stop what they are saying. It seems they have both been well drilled in this strategy. Jack Tame mostly didn't/couldn't stop Willis. The piece de resistance came when Willis, sitting next to Grant ,started blatting on about what he would be saying. Both Grant, and Jack reacted to that. Nicola Willis really is an unethical woman, more focused on attacking Labour, thacn being transparent, and accountable for her tax cut policy.
Grant is great. Willis is a nonentity, parroting the Nat lies. I fear the Nats would try to link house sales to instant citizenship as their nefarious ex-pm has before. NO SALES TO FOREIGNERS! It will ruin the lives of young Kiwis.

Yes, this came to mind straight away. They won't hesitate in doing so again. Especially as this fund is now doing so extremely well.

Thanks for your mahi.
You say National is running advertisements that ascribe to Labour the policies of the Greens and TPM. That absolutely stinks. Lying Luxon.
As you say, that is not how coalitions work.
Another delicious piece, great work. Thank you.

85 BILLION!
Oops thank you Jill. I must correct my mistake 85 billion not million.
Easy to do - the real figure seems totally unbelievable!
Yes I reckon.

Straight out of a Jonathon Pie playbook...
