With you all the way, Nick. Don't hold back!

I've never seen such a destructive, self-serving anti-democratic government in all my seven decades. We must oust them with extreme prejudice before there is nothing left of our beautiful country to salvage.

Give it heaps Nick we're getting sold down the river Peters is busy aligning us to the USA when we should be keeping our independence it feels like Luxons turning us into a little America with the privatization I might not have much money but I still want to walk in our beautiful bush untouched by unnecessary mines.

Brilliant Nick, one of your very best! Fluffernutter has been added to my favourite word list and its relevance to the current government is creepy in its perfect fit. We need bottomfeeders of Aotearoa to unite and get out there to ensure everyone votes - more than one term is just not an option.

Fluffernutters live in their own fluffernutter world, so it is hard for them to see the truth, especially since they don't want to know about anyone else but themselves.

Trouble with the term 'fluffernutter" is that it doesn't seem like a real nasty swear word, which I'm inclined to use about rednecks.

As to the increase in home ownership. I'd treat the stats with suspicion. What was the participation level at the last census? It's a pretty sure bet that because it was largely on line and with no personal visits, a lot of us bottom feeders, who probably also represent the renters, didn't bother.

It was census data March 23, so definitely a Labour score. There was an increase in home owner buyers in that time. There was the $10k starter, now gone.

Instead of talking about a Capital Gains Tax, perhaps we should be rephrasing it as an equitable tax

👍💯👏Agree! All the names "CGT" "Wealth" etc. not transparent or easy to understand "Equity Tax" or similar is much easier for us not steeped in tax nuance to grasp & defend... "so... You DON'T want equity in our tax system? OK... Now I see you are just a fluffernutter like all the other selfish people I see on the news moaning about paying their fair share - got it!"

I agree. An Equity Tax seems like a very appropriate name for such a tax, imo.

Perhaps we could write a ditty based on Mary Poppins to share our distaste of the attitudes of some who think they are more equal than others. We call it Mikey's Hopping. The song is below.

There's fluffernutters, bottom feeders and beds of fragrant roses,

Unfortunately the scents are getting up some upturned noses,

The bottom feeders live with dreams, each one of them supposes, that

Fluffernutteregotistsaresomethingquite atrocious

I, like your other readers and you, sincerely hope that New Zealanders make history and vote these evil, corrupt politicians out of office, but I see problems ahead. This government doesn’t care if they piss a whole lot of people off because come next election they will get truck loads of money from their super wealthy backers so both National and Act will be able to use traditional media and social media to the max… and they do this very well. The Right are really good at telling stories and using the ‘sound bite’ and this is what gets through. There is a huge group of people in NZ who are totally dis-engaged from the political events in NZ, BUT THEY VOTE. They vote on nothing… the sound bites “Tax Cuts”, “Coalition of Chaos” and this is what they vote on. The Left don’t do this nearly as well or maybe they do but get no traction in the media… The Left needs to start working now for the next election and I don’t really see this happening…

I know people working at the grass roots of the Labour Party & I can assure you that YOU might not "see" them, but they are working their butts off 👍 "grass roots" means unless you are local you WON'T "see" them unless you make a ZOOM submission to a select committee from a disaster area 😁. Corporate Media barely report what members of the Opposition in Parliament say, let alone local activities.🤬 As Nick says, whichever oppo party you most align with, support them as and when you can locally so they can build a strong ground game over the entire country. Local people having the actual factual info on the 3-headed-Taniwha can counter the mis/disinformation directly with people they know personally 🤷

Great newsletter! Maybe we need an organisation to encourage everyone to vote, including all "bottom feeders". In theory that's what helped get Obama as president in the States??

You go Nick, fluffernutters is much too nice a word for these cruel clowns.

Agree - it's why I stopped calling them "the coalition of cockwombles" because it sounds too innocuous 🧐 Now it's "Coalition of Cruelty" or "3 headed Taniwha" cos at least it's obvious 🤭

I read this aloud with glee to my husband this morning. Thanks Nick, we enjoyed it immensely. All the fluffy nutters disparaging labels aside, this coalition is Christofacist dangerous. The warning was there as soon as Luxon was groomed for his career rise as an MP. Christofascists de-construct systems that serve the people and replace with severe authoritarian control; Rules to keep the unwashed quiet and unseen. They surreptitiously and slowly eliminate all criticism. See how Luxon hates the media? To be frank, I believe he may be having panic attacks about fronting media questions; see how he'd rather play the fool on TikTok? He is inarticulate and uneducated on the issues that require DEPTH and values other than profit. It is our civic duty to protest loudly and (to mix my quotes) to vote the 'friggin bastards' out.

We can do this, and I think the song idea by Jeremy is gold.

"Fluffernutters egotists are something quite atrocious" and instead of Dum diddy dum diddy dum diddy aye "Vote 'em out, vote 'em out, vote 'em out aye."

Yep, I think we might be on to something here Patricia. How about "Kick 'em out"? Many thanks for your reply.😊

That song 🔥 Should be the compulsory soundtrack to play over every Luxon, et al interview or standup. It definitely matches my 'vibe'

Keep it up Nick, we need the prodding, who knows, maybe some of us might take some action?

Have you got any comment on the 149 fast track developments? Seems like govt will not fund any of them, and rely on private, capitalist companies to do that? Is that like selling off NZ bit by bit?

The legislation hasn't even passed. It seems a bit premature to be identifying all these, and it makes a mockery of the whole process. Especially sad to hear the number of mining works ready to go.

As always Nick. Thank you. I feel so angry and helpless most days. Of course we have to unite and fight back. There is a huge machine of greed against us so it is a big mountain to climb. And much of the means for that to happen is or has been stripped from us, sometimes without people even noticing. Our plastic PM and his sycophants are taking the piss out of us in a system called MMP we fought to bring in to try to bring some decency into our politics. I think the only way to go now is revolt.
