I too was there and it was a joyous and uplifting thing. So great that people, of all ethnicities came together for a cause that is so vital to the future of our country and our grandchildrens grandchildren.

But, it is also sorrowing to think that it needs to be done. In all my nearly 80 years I've met a few evil greedy cruel scungy shits, people you walk away from. But, I now realise that they are rank amateurs compared to the maestro of scungy shits who is driving this.

I was there with my daughter. A special day. It was 43 years since I marched - Aug 29, 1981.

I'm an empath, my whanau used to call me a cry baby. Your post warmed my heart, kia ora koe Nick.

Great to know that all ethnicities were there to tautoko. I would love to be there to witness an historic moment The Treaty has never been just about Maori, its always been about all people, always has been. . Toitu te Tiriti!

Hope you're having a lovely birthday, should be a good turnout in Rotorua. It was moving to see the funeral at Ohinemutu on the news last night.

Great comentary Nick. Almost all prejudice is based on ignorance. One cannot fail to be moved by the manaakitanga of Maori when visiting a Marae. Similarly, even the most cursory understanding of how Maori have been treated 'unequally' since Europeans took over and Seymour's Treaty ammendment bill demonstrates just exactly what 'equality' means to him. Spoiler alert Maori will continue to be abused by eurocentric pedagogy and colonial narrative

I had to work this morning so couldn't walk over the bridge, but my friends and I walked from Britomart to Takaparawhau and went to the activation and pōwhiri. It was a really uplifting experience, surrounded by friendly fierce allies and tangata whenua. I know there were a few delays, but it was well organised, and Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei were very generous hosts. A day of manaakitanga and kotahitanga. My favourite placard: "Whaka round, find out" carried by a very happy young man!

🖤❤️In Otautahi/Christchurch we don't have a Harbour Bridge, but there was a stirring crowd at the Bridge of Remembrance for the Car-koi travelling up Te Waipounamu to meet up with the Te Ika-a-Maui ope at Paremata/Parliament. All ages, all ethnicities, all in support of Toitu te Tiriti ❤️🖤 As we were told - we are now the educators that need to spread the word to others that Te Tiriti is the foundation governance agreement that gives ALL people their rights in Aotearoa. Not mentioned today, but when it was signed Maori outnumbered the pakeha "visitors" & it was by their grace that British arrivals etc. were permitted to settle in Aotearoa 🫂

What a vibe this morning. Fantastic!!! Thanks so much to the Maori wardens in their vans rounding up us stragglers at the back and ferrying us over the shaking bridge. Fabulous sense of community and spirit. Amazing organising. Love you he tangata he tangata. New friends made. Soul re-energised. I saw you there Reuben Taupiri. TOITU TE TIRITI!!!

I think Hikoi arrival at Parliament is on Tuesday 19th, not Monday.

Yes, you are correct, I got it wrong, thinking it was Monday.

Yep. Will be there. At Parliament. Sadly not Waitangi Park.
