I really hope you do stick around, you are very worthy of a paid subscription. I'm mostly silent but appreciate every one of your posts. Thanks for always being there when our beautiful country is dealt another blow by this disastrous government.
You, and like minded keep us sane.
And thank you for your insightful, enlightening and encouraging early morning ramblings that I read before my mind becomes scrambled by life's jolts and challenges.
Hi, first time commenting. Just a huge thumbs up to everyone in this challenging time and terrible government. Try to find something to smile about at Xmas and be ready to do the Mahi in 2025
I hope you won’t be too offended, but I’m originally from Sydney and thought I’ve never seen a more perfectly Aussie name than Sandy Holden. Most Holdens end up very sandy after countless trips to the beach over summer!😃😃
Hey not offended, I've often thought the very same thing when deciding to keep my maiden one or switch to Holden. As the saying went "There's nothing quite like a Holden
I sincerely appreciate your contributions to the analysis of our government’s actions. You form part of a small but growing group of people who are providing the rest of us with critical information and useful opinion. The mainstream media has lost its way under the direction of Atlas so a curated collection of independent analysis is essential. Thankyou for being a significant contributor to this. Happy holidays! 😊❤️
Having read what your readers have had to say, I endorse the need for you to continue this newsletter. It is a beacon of light in a dark landscape that shows no sign of improving.
Apart from the financial aspect, another possible cause for the drying up of subscribers could be that it has all become too much for some people. We have been ambushed on a near daily basis since this govt. took office. Day after day, week after week another bastion of democracy and/or social cohesion has fallen. For example, I hear that this government is phasing out contributions to welfare agencies who supply sustenance for the poorest in society.
It gets to the point when people don't want to know any more, and the proverbial rock becomes an attractive place to crawl under.
I had completely forgotten about that lovely guitar piece from Satriani but recognised the tune immediately. I’m going to add it to my Spotify playlists now.
Just when we think the year couldn’t possibly get any worse, I turn the TV on to find it’s raining in Hamilton! Are the Black Caps going to be denied a well deserved win against England because of the weather? 😢 I blame the Barmy Bloody Army for performing what was obviously a rain dance yesterday. They should be rounded up and sent home immediately!!
Love your work Nick and appreciate the time you put trolling through the muck, but also that you communicate so clearly and don’t get distracted by the waffle.
It’s getting pretty bloody scary now because can see the CoC doubling down and know it will get worse for so many as a result.
In the spirit of imitation being the best form of flattery I’ve stolen one of the graphics from this mornings post. Says the bloody obvious so well and I’m going to plaster it everywhere with links to your post.
No trouble, I have turned off auto-renew on your account so no payment will go out on the anniversary of your subscription, which is January 12. You can then look at the monthly one if you'd like once that has expired.
Have a lovely well earned break. Ngā mihi for another year of Pitopito Kōrero, I enjoy every newsletter, informative but also helping me feel a sense of community and that there are likeminded people out there. I really appreciate your mahi 🧡

I'll stick around as long as you do.
Couldn’t have said it better Josie. Thank you

My thoughts for what they are worth:

Gosh, how long since I've listened to that? Nostalgia all right - thanks for the reminder.

My sub is due for renewal. Would you please convert it to monthly and give me the Gold Card discount….. Cheers!
Hi Jane,
I'm afraid I can't change people's subscriptions. You can access the Gold Card discount here: https://nickrockel.substack.com/goldcard
Thanks,
Nick.
Ok then cancel current and I will resistive. Circumstances have changed and extracting $80 in one hit not so doable
