Thanks for highlighting this Nick. I find it really disappointing that the Team of 5 Million has quickly morphed into the team of me. It is noticeable in many ways including such things as being against safe speeds zones, support for those not so well off, those losing jobs just to name a few. Globally however the manner in which the world has basically ignored the plight of Palestine can only be seen as abhorrent.

As someone said to me the other day. (Suspected Tory voter).

"Climate wise, what ever we do, we're going down the toilet. So we might as well party 'till someone pulls the chain".

Perhaps Willis et al is our chain puller

Nick a" Classic" misuse of language right out of Gobbels' propaganda, is calling cuts in health budgets "Sustainability Targets", when really that is "Slashing Budgets" back to minimalist levels, Lifesaving surgeries do not happen, as no one is allowed to do overtime, replace sick workers or hire replacements. In Christchurch one arm of Health is trying to reach the "Sustainable Target" of 13 million less!! Blatant misrepresentation of what is happening. Taking away is not sustainability. It will not renew or improve.

GREAT song! Yup, pretty depressing news wherever you look… But Gabrielle (the storm not the song) did bring out some fantastic people and a genuine sense of community for many. Perhaps when the next apocalypse arrives we’ll go back to being kind

How do we express our displeasure to the absolute train wreck posing as a finance minister directly? I know people like her exist you cant go far without finding another one, trump being only one high profile example. But surely 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 there are more good people around.

Lee and Simmons sacked today! So it’s true the CEO is Mr Spray and Walk Away… they pay the price for his lack of leadership but now he’s back wearing his gun-belt and strutting it in the Main Mean Street of Town.

Why didn’t he aim at SeeMort! I wish.

I’m dreading the budget. I anticipate it will make Ruth Richardson’s budget look generous. To even suggest that the plans for strengthening our infrastructure against future climate disasters and turn our backs on helping people recover from such devastation just shows how callous this government is, particularly the Finance Minister. How does she sleep at night.

The woman in the pre-election debate who made the bitter attack against Labour's lack of progress post cyclone: I can tell you how she will be responding to Nicola Willis' proposal to disestablish the Resilience Plan. She will be full of excuses... why Willis & Co. can't do anything "because they inherited such an awful mess, they've got to use the money to fix up all the other things Labour did wrong."

If the government go ahead with the $6 billion post Gabrielle infrastructure cut will Nicola take responsibility for the lives lost by those who have had their last hope of recovering anything like a life worth living for taken from them? How does this woman sleep at night?

It’s hard to watch for sure. Harder still to feel so powerless. Hardest of all to see so many good, hard-working people being thrown under the bus. It helps to know this will pass.

Every time Luxon opens his mouth and drops another platitude his chances of re-election shrink. Today’s rolling of Melissa Lee and Penny Simmonds (both women in case you didn’t notice), accompanied by more corporate bullshit than you’d hear at a trading bank offsite, won’t help him, especially when all he can find to replace them with are Goldsmith and, FFS, Upston.

Chortling while waiting for Chris Hipkins’ take on it. And it’s only six months into the current term. Cheer up peeps. More will be revealed.

Thanks Nick, for The Nips with the late, great Shane MacGowan. Did you know they were at first known as The Nipple Erectors. Must have been a bit much even for punks back then.

All I keep thinking is don’t get sick! On tax cuts Nicola Willis smugly declared on bFM this morning that families would be grateful for an extra yogurt a week. Not sure of the relevance of that to struggling students.

We have wasted 50 years because big business was able to ridicule the findings described in Limits to Growth (1972).

It seems greed always wins.

Why weren't Lee and Simmons sacked outright? Neither of them has done anything memorable in any portfolio they've held. Interesting that we have ministers of finance, revenue and economic development. Couldn't the money matters be held by one minister to ensure all checks and balances were covered? As far as I can see, there have become two vacant seats currently held by two vacant ministers. Surely these are two expenses we can do without?

With all that "they"are doing 2 ministers get swapped out, I wonder what they must have done to cause that? Surely they did not disagree with the party line?
